Hi Everyone!

My name is Jenn, my husband and I have been TTC for about 8 years now. We have had 2 m/c's in 2002 and 2004. We discovered male infertility last June and have been struggling with it since then. We cant afford IVF so right we are just TTC the old fashioned way and hoping for a miracle :)

Welcome Jenn,

I am sorry to hear about your struggles. Have you explored the idea of IUI with donor sperm? I know it is not for everyone but perhaps it will increase your odds without having to go to IVF.

Either way I welcome you here and hope you can find the support here that I have. All of these ladies are such a wealth of knowledge. I have found much comfort being here.

Thanks Ladies, for the welcome!

We don't want to use donor sperm.. at least we are really not wanting to. But if it comes to that, we may reconsider.

He has low sperm count/low volume. His numbers last year were:

Count: 16 mill/ml.

Volume: 0.2 ml.

Total Count: 2 mill.

Motility: 65%

I think the motility is normal. The count wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for his volume. He said he felt rushed and that it seemed like a small amount compared to normal, so I have been holding on to the hope that on a normal day he can produce at least the 16 mill./ml. It's better than 2 mill! It has been a rough year so we haven't seen an RE until this april. Now we are waiting on him doing his repeat SA to see if his numbers have improved at all.

I have tried looking into fertility blend/fertility aid. But haven't decided which one to try!

Oh I hope you are right and it was just not the ideal day for your DH when he gave his sample. You should take a look at the section of this group for people struggling with male IF. I know that they talk about different suppliments that their DH is taking to help with certain issues.

Fingers crossed you never have to reconsider using DS.

I hope the repeat SA shows better results and the last one was just a fluke.

Hello and welcome to the board!
I'm fairly new here too...but not new to IF. We are faced with male factor infertilty too. I'm sorry that you are having to go through this as well. I hope that you find support and advice here. i hope you don't mind me saying this, but don't loose hope. DH and I were saving for IVF and we got pregnant on our own. The doctors told us it wasn't impossible, but it would be very difficult..not to give up, but not to get our hopes up too high at the same time. We have our miracle baby. We are in the same boat with having a hard time facing the costs of IVF and other IF treatments. It's so frustrating. A friend of mine once said, "you think nothing of spending $15-20 000 on a car that may only last 10 years, and you are stressing about spending that on a baby..something you'll have for the rest of your life? Something that you want so much more than a car?" It put things in perspective (not that it makes it easier to swallow) and even though it costs a lot we decided we'd do what we have to to try. It may not be the decision for everyone, but for us...we're going with it for now!

I wish we could do IUI but even though he had 16 mill/ml he only had 0.2 ml which means he only had 2 mill. total. They won't do it with less than 5 mill total, not just 5 mill/ml. But I'm hoping with the repeat SA at least his volume will be higher!

Thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement :)
