Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the board. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 2 years now. We have one son who just turned 4, but we've been wanting to add to our familiy for what seems like forever now.

Welcome. I am sorry you have to go through this. IF seems to have a gift for springing up when everyone else seems to get pregnant.
I found going to my RE the first time both brought me happiness in being proactive and sadness over the fact I needed help. Focus more on the fact you are getting help. As to the testing do not focus on the awkward. Sadly you get more used to it then you would think. Speaking from a healthcare professional area we really don't notice things like what you are worrying about. We focus more on what we are doing. You will be thinking about it way more then the doctor or nurse will be. Try and relax. I know that is much easier said then done. :)
Hopefully you will find the answers you need. Much luck and baby dust to you.

Hello Rachel and welcome! I totally know how you feel about the Day 3 ultrasound. I was like, "Really? They do THAT while you're bleeding??". I felt pretty uncomfortable the first time I had it done, because when I do get AF it's pretty heavy also. However it really helped that they were very professional and assured me that they had done this a million times. The U/S Tech was really more focused on what she was looking for on the screen than anything else.
I really hope that this is the start of a good game plan for you and soon you will be on your way to Baby #2!!

Thank you so much for understanding. I don't feel like I can talk to anyone pretty much about all this that I'm going through. I hope being a part of this board will help me feel less alone in this struggle.

I had my Day 3 u/s today and everything went fine. We talked about options because I had fewer follicles than normal, so it raised the question of whether I'm going through premature ovarian failure...my hormone level labs were drawn, so that will be more conclusive.

No matter the cause of infertility, the dr. talked to us about options and we're opting to try IUI this cycle. I started the Clomiphene today since I have short cycles and he'll check how my follicles are progressing on Saturday.

Thank you so much for your reply. The awkwardness of the Day 3 U/S is complicated by the fact that the Dr. does the u/s himself (I've heard he's really meticulous and so far, from my experience, it shows). The other reason is that I know the dr....not really well, but still. Anyhow, it's over and we're moving on to the options to get help...we're trying IUI this cycle. I know our chances are low, but I'm hopeful.

Good luvk with IUI! It took my DH and I several attempts with IUI but finally it took and we got our miracle. I hope you get the same blessing.
