Optimistic but where do I begin

My husband have been on the infertility train for the last 8 years. We had our good (we have a five year old who was conceived naturally after being told IVF was our only option). Yet, 5 years later I have not gotten pregnant again. I am 38, husband is 47 and has a 19 year old daughter as well. I have been told that I have PCOS as well as a high FSH. He has not the most perfect of sperm count, but has had luck at least 2 times. The last doctor (military) was happy with our counts and told me that my tests show I am still ovulating...but we are now getting closer to the end of our time. I was told about a year ago to look at donor eggs, but my OB/GYN said it should not be necessary. I do not want to play around. We will have to find a non-military doctor which means outside expenses (he recently retired from the Air Force). Where do I begin? Since I am at the older end of the spectrum, do I look at IVF first? We are trying not to let this consume us. I am open to adoption, though DH s not.

Hi raysangel1973, welcome to the board. I'm sorry that you are having such a rough time TTC. I would probably have a full workup done by a fertility specialist before deciding to go right to IVF. They might have other suggestions for you to try first.

Hi Raysangel,

I agree with Melissa on this one.

~ Meron born 12-09-11 after 3 1/2 years of TTC, IUIs and IVF.
~ #2 on the way(!) and due 06-06-13.
