Preg test tomorrow after 2ww!!
| Wed, 11-28-2007 - 4:55pm |
Well....tomorrow's the day....The "official" preg test. I'm trying not to go crazy. I had a very emotional week. I broke down and did a home test monday...which was negative, but then turned positive after I dug it out of the trash 3 hrs later. Don't know what to make of that. So I retested the next day with the same result....very faintly positive...then stronger line after digging out of trash 3 hrs later. Don't know what to make of any of this nonsense. Don't know if this makes me feel more at ease or more anxious.
Anyway....anyone out there have any input or perspective on all this lunacy?

Hi Politimy
I am glad you made it through the dreaded 2WW. It is excruciating, I know. As far as your test goes.....on the second time you tested, did you see a faint line prior to digging it out of the trash? If you saw any line, no matter how faint, during the normal 2-5 minute period, then I think that may be a really good sign. If, however, there is absolutely no line until you dig it out, then that probably means the test is no longer valid. Unfortunately, I have had BFN's with absolutely no faint line turn positive hours later. It has to do with the test. You would not believe how many I have dug out of the trash. On a positive note. I got my BFP on 15DPO. At that time the line was so faint that I thought I willed it to be there. When does the Dr. give you a blood test?
Lots of positive thoughts your way.................good luck, good luck and lots and lots of baby dust!!!

Hi Kim...
OMG!!!!!! I am so, so, so happy for you!!!! Enjoy this feeling. Are you just in shock? It also probably feels too good to be true. This is fantastic news! As far as Beta numbers go, the important thing is not the number itself but rather that the number double on average, every 48 hours. My first Beta at 15DPO was 152 which was considered a for sure pregnancy. My second Beta 48 hours later was 485. All that number needs to do is double. I use Kaiser and they are actually doing a research study (that I am participating in ) on Beta scores of women 30 and older. There is current research that indicates that lower Beta #'s in early pregnancy may be a result of age and only age as lots and lots of women over 30 start w/ low, low #'s and go on to have healthy babies. With that being said, you can google the word "Beta numbers" and you should be taken to lots of websites that will give you good info about the #s. Beware, don't do too much reading as it will make you crazy w/ worry.
Hopefully we can help each other deal with the anxiety of these new pregnancies and actually try and enjoy and appreciate a bit. We are really only a little more then a week apart. Congrats again, Mama.
