Spotting after ovulation HELP PLEEEAAASE! Lateal Phase Defect

Hi Everyone,

For the past 13 months, I have started spotting before my period is due, 4 days past ovulation. This is pink or brown until I am due on which ranges from 12 to 14 days after ovulation. I am trying to conceive and this seems to be causing a problem. I have had 2 miscarriages both at 5 weeks. I have had every blood test under the sun, scans, examinations, a Laparoscopy and everything has come back fine, including my progesterone levels, which are 52.5. I also went on Clomid for 4 months, which sorted it all out, although I got blurred vision and everything then went back to normal after I finished it. All I get from the doctors is, "well the most important thing is you're ovulating". They don't have a clue what to suggest. I feel absolutely fine in myself and am a happy person, but the spotting does get to me, especially as everything about my cycle was perfect before I started trying to conceive. Literally the month I started trying for kids, it all went wrong!!!

I am booked for a diagnostic hysteroscopy now, but I bet it comes back ok.

Just wondered if anyone else has spotting/bleeding problems after ovulation has taken place and doesn't have low progesterone or anything know to be wrong?

I am really determined to find someone like me out there, I can't be the only person in this boat!!!

Thanks

Hi there,

I am sort of in a similar boat in that I spot brown for up to 6 days before af, but I have not been tested for progesterone levels yet. My RE said yesterday that testing progest. levels can be misleading as the number can go up and down after you o. This cycle of IUI I am going to try the progest. suppository and I will be curious to see if my spotting is reduced. I regret that no one can answer your question. I feel the same about my spotting in that I mention it all the time but they seem kind of disinterested.

I hope you get your answer soon.

Hi Sope,

I have heard that progesterone levels can be misleading. I think the progesterone suppositories are a good idea, I would like to take them if my doctors would let me! Fingers crossed they will work perfectly for you.

Will you let me know how you get on with the progesterone? Will be interesting to know. I hope it all sorts itself out for you, I'll keep everything crossed!

I AM in the same boat!!!!! I used to have normal periods without any spotting, but for awhile now I have had brownish colored spotting about 5 days before AF. I thought this was contributing to the infertility issues (TTC over 2 years) and mentioned it to my doctor, but he too seemed totally disinterested. We have unexplained infertility and every test has come back normal. This month I did my first IVF cycle and I am using progesterone, so I will be interested to see what happens with AF next week (not too optimistic, as you can tell).

Sorry to hear about your problems, it is frustrating when you can't find the answers and the doctors don't do the job they are supposed to!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your IVF, you will have to let me know what happens with the progesterone. I have always wanted to try it, but I have now realised that the spotting might not just be because my lining isn't responding to the progesterone in my body, it may also be poor follicle production, which is why when I took clomid, it actually worked. So, I have decided I have to wait until someone will listen to me as there is no point me taking progesterone if my eggs are rubbish in the beginning!

Keep me posted and good luck this cycle.
