What to expect when you're NOT expecting
| Thu, 06-26-2008 - 4:51pm |
Where shall I start...I am 23 years old and have been trying to conceive for the last 2 years. My DH and I have been deemed "unable to achieve pregnancy naturally" by my ob/gyn (while he was performing a pap test I might add!) after a series of hormone tests, SA and 4 cycles of Clomid, i was scheduled for 6 however the side effects for me were unbearable. We are now scheduled to have our first consultation with a fertlity specialist and i feel as though this can't be happening to us and am not sure if I am ready to move to this level. I am afraid of more bad news. Can anyone please tell me what we should expect this first visit? Any information from experience would be helpful to us. Thank you. Also is it me or does it seem that when you are "trying" everyone around you seems to be getting pregnant?

Welcome to IF support and the women on this board completely understand
First thank you

Hey there! Just wanted to say "Welcome!" and that I was told lots of times that I had "plenty of time". Then, my RE told me my eggs were like those of a pre-menopausal woman. (I'm 28.) Sigh! Lots of other factors in the mix, but I won't bore you with the details.
That first "reality check" is always hard. Why is this happening to me? Making babies should've come just as naturally as baby dancing and peeing on a stick...but, it's not so simple for all of us. I think you'll find that the treatments we're trying are as many as the number of women on this board. We've all got a couple of things in common, though. We seem to have trouble having kids "the normal way"... and we want to be (and are) here for each other.
(((Hugs))) - You've come to the right place. Lots of great gals here!

Please pray for our dear friends' Baby Rylin who is in very critical condition at Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta. Her lungs and heart are not working properly. Pray that she remains stable and that the treatment that the doctors are doing works. Find updates at http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-ppdonor&msg=15880.1&ctx=0 Thank you!

Welcome, Krystle.
Allison,
Funny story kinda!
The last OB appointment I went to was not with my normal DR.
Hi and welcome.
My first appointment with the RE was in April (TTC since Nov 06), and there was a lot of Q and A about cycles, past medical history, and a lot of other stuff and they ordered Day 3 B/W for me....which meant I had to wait 2 weeks since midcyle.
