What's next if clomid is NOT working?

Hi, all.  I'm new to the board.  I've been on Clomid now for two cycles and it's not working.  I just started my period today.  : (  Do you think my doctor will recommend another cycle of Clomid?  If so, do you think it's time to increase the dosage (right now I'm on the lowest dose)?  What do doctors typically recommend when Clomid isn't getting the job done?  Do you move onto injections?  IVF?

I'm so bummed.  I never thought it would be this difficult!

Any advice from others is greatly appreciated!!!

Generally speaking, your dr. will increase your dosage for clomid.

I guess my first question is.....do you have problems with ovulation and is that why the doc has you on Clomid? I used Clomid unsuccessfully for three months. I ovulate regularly and have great numbers on everything as does my husband. My regular gyn put me on it as the first attack on the unexplained infertility. I wish that I had know then what I know now as for me I believe that I wasted three months using the Clomid. Also, it made me emotionally bonkers!!! I don't know what your experience has been but I was a mess. I am lucky that I still have a husband and a job! After three months on the Clomid (with combined IUI's) I saw a RE and he started me on the injection plan. For me, he felt that Clomid was not the right approach. He explained that lots of general practioners use it as an infertility approach but that it was not really a good solution for me because I did not have any problems with O or w/ my cycles. He had me do the requisite tests again IE FSH, Progesterone, HSP and then put me on the BCP for 21 days. on day 22 I started on Lupron (prevents natural ovulation) and was told to contact the office for a baseline US as soon as AF arrived. After 14 days on Lupron AF had still not arrived (I know, every other month I pray it won't come and this time I wanted it to come to get started). After 14 days they brought me in for an US and determine that my lining was thin enough to start the Menopur (drug to stimulate the growth of the follicles) I started out with 15 follicles on each side and they were afraid of overstimulating so they went really slow. The bummer is that after stimulating for nearly 1 days, only two of the follicles matured. I was told to do the HCG trigger and then we did the IUI. I am in the dreaded 2WW!

Although it is just y opinion and I am not a doctor.....I think it might be important to speak w/ your doc about the next step. Good luck and keep me postd!
