ICSI success stories from you grads?

A very good friend of mine did IVF two years ago. She is just finishing paying off $20,000 it cost her for two unsuccessful cycles. She is 37, her DH is 39. I know they had ICSI, severe male factor. Not swimming at all and they had to be drilled into her egg. I think she dealt with endometriosis too, but that was all taken care of before they started IVF treatment. There were never any embies to freeze. When I ask if she's going to 'give it another go', she just shrugs. I can tell she is afraid to be let down all over again. She is such a great friend, a great support system to me now going through IVF. I would love to give her hope - hope in the form of success stories from ladies that have gone through what she has. Any advice I can pass along to her?
Thanks, J.

There are a lot of success stories with ICSI. I know a lot of women have done ICSI and gone on to get PG. I think this is the best story that I have heard while on this board.
A gal cycled last May/June, they had severe MF and the DH had to do a TESE just to find sperm. Through the TESE they only found 5 live sperm. The embryologist worked really hard to get her eggs to fertilize. She ended up transferring 2 embies and ended up being PG with twins. You never know what can happen. I think for your friend to cycle again, she needs to find the best clinic possible that will give her some extra attention. I have also been reading on haveababy.com which is SIRM clinics. They have a technology called HRSS that is supposed to be able to pull out the best sperm. I also know that jennagreen on this site was talking about other options that her clinic is doing to find the best sperm. You might want to send her and email.

HI! We just did IVF with ICS and got pregnant with twins on 1st try. I had no issues but my husband had low morphology. After TTC for 6 months, we did one of those male/female at home fertility tests and it said my husband should be further tested. Our fertility specialist put him on some supplements and we continued to try for another 6 months. We decided to skip IUI as were told chances were low. Spent money on IVF with ICSI... and it worked! I was very positive from Day 1 and just knew that I would get pregnant. I did acupuncture all through my stimulations and am now 8 weeks pregnant and still doing acupuncture... Our twins are growing and their heartbeats are strong :) And we have three frozen embryos for future use!

ICSI definitely works and of course might take a few tries on more severe cases. I truly believe that staying positive and not thinking too much about the whole process (which I know is hard) is the best way to go. I found the best and most reputable practice in my area and then just completely trusted them. Also, I encourage anyone going through this to not read any negative posts... save that reading for when you are going through something bad yourself... but while you're trying to conceive, avoid reading stories of cases where it did not work. The mind is so powerful!

Hope this helps!
