Will you be telling your child?

I was wondering if you've thought about whether or not you will tell your child that they were born through IVF?  I was just reading an article on Medical News Today about the subject, here is the link if you would like to take a look: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/194824.php.

I have two neices that are both IVF babies, they are now 14 and 12.  I'm not sure if my brother and his wife have told them about it or even if they have ever asked where they came from.

What are you feelings on this?

It's certainly an interesting question and one that my husband and I have discussed though with no resolution, maybe that's because our son is only 2 1/2.

Once he is older we may have a more formal opinion, but for now it's a "we'll play it by ear when the time comes"

Beautiful baby boy born Aug 2007 through IVF. We have been trying for # 2 for over 2 years, we are now in the 2WW of IVF#5. Whatever happens we have our miracle :-)

I read that article and was not a real fan of its tone, as if IVF was something to "disclose," and it made it seem like some dark secret that kids had a right to know - the way in which they were conceived.

my thought is that i will tell noah someday. IVF is not a terribly uncommon thing anymore so he certainly will not be the only IVF conceived child in his class. i intend on teaching the birds and the bees, and the doctors and the drugs.... it's the truth and nothing i am or ever would be ashamed to share. it is proof that we wanted him so desparately that we would go to the ends of the earth to get him.

I certainly will. Enough people already know that they'd find out regardless and I'd rather it be from a very positive "you were wanted so much" perspective.

Nothing at all weird or to be ashamed of...in fact, the whole process is rather cool! Plus, I hope the information might give any ifv children a vested interest in becoming reproductive doctors...more are desperately needed, in my opinion!
