Hey ladies,

Just have a question. I will be 12 weeks this coming weekend and my Dr has told me to stop the Estrace (estradiol) pills and the Progesterone shots that day. I am just wondering if everyone just stops them cold turkey, or if other providers suggest weaning off of them. I guess it just makes me nervous to stop cold turkey. (it's the nurse in me, haha). Anyway, just looking for some other experiences. It seems I'm anxious about everything these days! :)

Thanks!

My RE told me to quit cold turkey too...I was too much of a sissy and weaned myself off of it over a week by doing 1/2 doses for 3 days and 1/4 doses for 3 more days. So exciting that you're almost 12 weeks!!!

While I did not take Estrace or do the Progesterone shots, my Dr. did tell me to reduce from 2 Progesterone suppositories a day to 1 a day for a week before stopping completely.

Hope it helps! Yay for being 12 weeks! :)

Thanks girls. I am not sure what I'll do... I'm SOOO ready to be off the shots cuz my hips are terribly sore, but I am also incredibly paranoid about stopping. And, I agree, yay for being 12 weeks. Still seems surreal!

I stopped taking them at 10 weeks and you don't want to be taking estrogen past 12 weeks anyway. You have made it to 12 weeks and thats a major milestone. Progesterone shots would not be able to support a pregnancy if your body was not making enough yourself already. I actually only did the suppositories when it got toward the end. You got this girl! Your pregnant enjoy it and don't worry!

I stopped progesterone cold turkey at 10 weeks (estrogen a bit earlier). No issues whatsoever. That was 7 weeks ago and I'm still going strong!
