My acupuncturist said you should have it done before the transfer and after. Both within 24 hours. He said there are conflicting feelings about doing it again later because some people feel that it will possibly encourage/help embryos "stick" that maybe really shouldn't if that makes sense. Good luck!!

Hi Carmen -

With my first IVF, I went in to my acupuncturist before the transfer and then again after. She said the before helps open the uterus to recieving the embryo and the after helps close it... I would ask your acupunturist and see what they recommend. I know it helped relax me! GL and FX for your ET next week!!!!

Good luck to you too! Have you read Fertility Wisdom by Angela Wu? Gives great suggestions (diet, massage, meditation) to complement the acupuncture if you're not already.

I've just started seeing my acupuncturist, and I already feel much more relaxed - she suggested a session before and after the ET. I thought that seemed like a lot, so I might just do it after, but I think it's important to do one the day of the procedure to help support the uterine lining and to keep you relaxed as well. It seems like the most important day of the whole IVF cycle, so it's worth the extra session to me. Plus if it's so close you should take advantage of that!

Good Luck!!

My acupuncturist does things to relax and support the uterus (and amazingly, took the cramps away after an IUI). I'd say go for it, but your acupuncturist would know better.
