I also know someone who had a tubal reversal that was unsuccessful and went on to IVF and had a baby. If your insurance will cover the IVF despite the tubal, I'd go for that.
Sarah, 25 *IVF*First Cycle Canceled. Second Cycle Chemical Pregnancy. *Third Cycle Successful 3 weeks hospital for Pre-E. E&E born July 2010 via emergency cesarean at 34 weeks. NICU for a month. Now home & healthy. *FET with embies from cycle 3- BFN

My SIL had a tubal and tried to reverse it. They still ended up going through IVF because the scaring was too severe for eggs to pass through her tubes normally. If it were me I'd probably just go the IVF route. GL!!!

Lindsay,

Great questions. Going to talk to our RE sometime this week. Our insurance will pay for the surgery THIS year... meaning i"d have to have it done by the end of the year. He said he wanted to try a different protocol and that we should try one more time. We can afford another round (or surgery next year) as they cost about the same... but if I do the surgery this year, it's free because I've hit my medical stop loss for my insurance. My plan is if I do IVF, it'll be in Feb. I'm going to try to talk the RE to prescribe all meds so I can get them this year, so they are also paid for by insurance. (have to work the system!)

We could possibly do both, if I really worked the system, but I'm sure my insurance company would freak! ;)

Hubby is leaning towards IVF, he thinks we have best chance like that, but this IVF cycle was hard on me... all those meds make me so tired! and the ER was very painful... so he just wants to do one thing and say 'hey we tried' and move on. I don't blame him, he does think about my well being, but the need/want for another little one is overwhelming!

Also, I'm on day 3 of no meds and AF hasn't arrived... frustrating!

I was sad to see that both you AND Jennifer got BFN's this week.

Let me ask you something.....Will your Health Insurance cover the Reversal?? Or do you have to pay out of pocket for it? IF your insurance would cover it...I might say try one more IVF..IF you can afford it...and if IT fail......have the reversal andthen Get busy making the magic happen!! SInce you only got 2 embis in the IVF...does your RE plan on a different protocol....or is that the best you can hope for? We are on round THREE ourselves......and so far we have always gotten BFP's (Though the augus cycle ended in M/C)...so I keep taking out loans and convincing myself that I WILL GET ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL MIRACLE lik our first IVF gave us. BUT, I am older now..and think I am in my last cycle.

Are there Statistics about how hard it may be to conceive after a Reversal?? My Sister in Law had a reversal after having three kids EASILY...and was never able to get Pregnant after the reversal....(She never explained in detail WHY, or even if she knew why)...

WHat does your DH want to do???
