So af is here and I am in
Me - (Amanda 27) My dh-- 26 We have been ttc # 1 for 3yrs 5mths My dh has severe oligospermia, Ivf with icsi is our only option. Ivf # 1--- failed Ivf # 2--- failed Ivf # 3-- hopefully in March 2013 at a new clinic!
I've been doing okay. My cervix started shortening at 16 weeks, which is not good. Right now I get an US every week to monitor the shortening. If it gets to short than they will consider putting in a cervical stitch to prevent me from going into labor. It's been a litlle scary. Yesterday it shortened to 2.5
Just wanted to say Good Luck Amanda!!! Happy to hear you guys are trying again in May. I would get all your questions anwsered, remember doctors are human too and they deal with many patients. I used to write all my questions down before I would go to my RE appointments, that way I would not forget one thing. Also try to keep your own file with all your blood results ect. Make them explain anything your confused about or don't understand.
I will definately be sending you lots of prayers and positive thoughts in May
I don't have much experience with prolactin levels. From what I can see it is linked to PCOS or hypothyroidism. Have you been tested for those? If your thyroid is off that can certainly cause a myriad of fertility issues. And of cours PCOS can too. If I were you I'd try to get to the bottom of the prolactin issues before going into IVF#2.My RE tested E2 at each follicle check. This information was used in conjuction with the u/s results to determine when the follicles were mature. I think this is the standard meathod over just using u/s to monitor follicles. My P4 was tested 3DP ER and with each beta. You might ask your RE if (s)he's willing to monitor your E2 at follicle checks. As for egg quality there really isn't a test for it that I'm aware of. I think how you see it is on fertilization and growth rates after ER. Good luck and tons of baby dust!!!
I am also Amanda, 28, and just did my ER for IVF #3. Seems like your Dr left you with alot of unanswered questions. Are you doing a consult with your Dr before you May cycle? I would recommend it.
All 3 IVFs I had lab work several times a cycle. Usually an E2 and P4. Before I had tons of lab work to check for different genetic problems, DNA factors. I would ask the RE to run every possible test, well, as long as it is afforadable to you and your hubby.
