Anyone doing IVF with ICSI?

Hello Ladies,

I have been a lurker for sometime now...I usually post at Iparenting.com, but I feel my privacy was invaded by a old co-worker, so here I am! We are keeping our upcoming IVF very private only immediate family knows.

We did all our prelimanary tests and the only thing that came up was dh's(dear husband) penetration test was borderline and they recommend ICSI. I have read a lot about it and everything seems safe for us, but just want to hear some success stories with that.

We've been ttc 3 years. I have been diagnosed with Endometriosis, but that was it until DH's hamster test. I am 26, DH is 32. We have tried EVERYTHING without any success, so we have been giving better odds with IVF. Actually, close to 60% chance of it working and carrying out delivery. I am getting very excited. I have started my BC pills now and will start Lupron shots next week and begin stimulation 8-29. With an estimated transfer date 9-10. Anyone out there with the same time frame and doing ICSI??

Well, I will be looking forward to getting to know you all.

Missy--

My almost 7 month old is napping in the room as I write this. So that's your success story. She was conceived with IvF/ICSI on our first try. We'd had 3 failed IUI's before that. DH had serious count and motility problems (we were both 31 when we conceived).

Obviously, we were lucky. But the procedure is very effective and at your age, especially, you have a good chance. Go to a good clinic that's experienced and has a solid record. The great thing about ICSI is that even if they only found one little sperm, they could inject it into the egg and you could get pregnant.

I wish you the best.

Hi Missy. DH and I are both 28 and we've been ttc for 2 years. DH has a severe morph. problem and I don't ovulate regularly so IVF/ICSI was our only option. Our first cycle in June ended with a negative result. We were able to freeze one embryo, but have decided to try another fresh cycle. I should begin BCPs this week and we've estimated a 9/23 retrieval. We're not exactly cycle buddies, but close enough!

Missy,

I am going through my first IVF with ICSI and started lupron last night. I start stims 8/23 (if baseline US & BW are good) with retrieval the first week of Sept.

We don't have male factor but because I'm 38 my RE wants to be aggressive and make sure that we don't lose a cycle if there were to be any fertilization problems.

I believe we'll be pretty close in our cycles.

Hi Andrea,

Looks like you'll be a week earlier than me. It will be nice to have someone to go through this with. Good luck to you! And keep me posted on your progress.

Hi Girls-

I am getting ready to start cycle #2. Went through a failed ICSI/IVF in June/July. After a few very sad weeks, I'm feeling better and excited about the next try. Our "target date" for retrieval is 9/26, so Sara you and I are definitely cycle buddies!

Let's all keep in touch and keep each other strong!

Andrea (and Missy and Sara and did I miss anyone?!)

Let's hope lots of cycle buddies gives us good karma: I go for my sono and BW the 24th, start stim and have a retrieval date of 9/4, transfer 7/7/

Things are going to be very interesting at my house, as we are doing IVF/ICSI, after a TESE: DH has hypospermatogenesis, and a fine needle aspiration (11 specimens from each side) showed occasional mature sperm. Believe me, we are so thrilled with even that! But on the 4th, we will need a ride to the RE and back, and I will be groggy and crampy, (I think) and DH will be groggy and in significant pain. He'll be starting to feel better just as I will be on 2 days bedrest after the transfer. What a household!

I got a fortune in my cookie that says "when the flowers bloom, so will great joy in your life." So it will be the late summer flowers...

Good luck to all!

Hi Missy,

I am a bit ahead of you - I've been doin gmy Lupron for 2 weeks now, and am starting my stims on Saturday (the 16th). My retrieval should be around 26-27th.

We'll be doing half ICSI half regular IVF, depending on the number of eggs we have though. We wanted to see if regular IVF will work, just to give us an idea if we have any fertilization problems. My RE does ICSI as a standard procedure, unless you don't want it (mostly due to the higher cost). We have mild male factor, otherwise everything looks fine. We've done 2 IUI cycles.

Hope we'll have the beginners luck!
