Bad news.....my E2 level did not rise as it should have. It was only 29 today. So my cycle has been cancelled :-(. They will discuss my case tomorrow and call with my new protocal on Friday. Another set back.....

I will still lurk around, and I wish you all well :-)

Oh, I am sorry. I've been there. They cancelled me the day that I would have been getting the trigger shot because of my E2 level. It really stinks, but you want to make sure that everything goes right to get the best shot a a good outcome. Hopefully they can change your protocol and get a better response.

Well Hi everyone....looks like I am starting late on the board here! Probably because I am jumping right back into a FET after our first cycle of IVF was BFN. Amazing, we only got our negative result about 3 weeks ago and here I am again. Looks like I am the only FET this time and this is my first FET so we'll see how it goes!

I started BCP 5 days after our beta and I am due to stop on Sunday. Initial bloodwork/US was supposed to be Tuesday or Wednesday but a minor complication arose last night when I started bleeding. Woke up this morning to cramping and a pretty steady period. Figures. The PCOS girl who gets a period every 45-90 days normally gets a period after 17 days while on BCP! Come on body, get on board!

Anyway, I talked to a nurse this morning and she thought about seeing if they could move up my FET date but after some more discussion (this happened last time too, I bled 2-3 days before I stopped BCP)...she decided to just have me check in tomorrow with my regular nurse. I'll probably continue until Sunday night as planned and just go in for monitoring on Monday. Shots should start Tuesday or Wednesday.

For those of you who've never done a FET, it's much more rigidly scheduled than a fresh cycle. They plan everything around scheduling the FET with embryology and count backwards when to start shots, BCP, etc. The plus side is I only have 2 little appointments before the FET (I was going in every other morning and every morning the 12 days leading up to my fresh cycle). Since they're just stimulating my uterine lining this time and not my ovaries, they don't have to watch me as carefully. The minus side is that all my injections are intramuscular. BLEH! I will be on Del-estrogen every 3 nights for a couple weeks and then I'll start PIO every night. I hear that's the rough one but I have some pointers from friends who have gone through a FET to make them easier. I am probably going to continue on the PIO for a while after my beta (if positive) because I bled on the suppositories last time. Guess my body wasn't absorbing everything it needed. We'll see...one day at a time!

To answer some questions I've seen on here:

-My boss (female) knows what's going on and I update her as needed. I just asked her to keep it quiet and she has been wonderful. I think being honest is the best way to get people to symphatize with you rather than complain about all the time you're taking off. I have only told one coworker (in case I need someone to cover for me) and close family and friends. It helps me to have a support system but I have purposely not told many people because I also don't want the constant questions. Sometimes I just want to feel normal and not have to talk fertility!

-Dads- I was on 24 hours bed rest after my first cycle. I had to keep my feet up and was told to stay on the couch unless I had to go to the bathroom. I've seen studies that go both ways, but I just listened to my doctor. I think your surrogate should probably do the same!

-Elizabeth- I have never heard of your clinic's freezing procedure either. As a PCOS patient, I had 25 mature eggs harvested, 16 fertilized and 9 made it to the blast stage and were frozen. We also did ICSI because we used my DH's forzen sperm. He has a spinal cord injury so he has his surgical procedure to retrieve the sperm, 3 vials were frozen, and then one was thawed after my ER. There were plenty of healthy sperm for my 25 eggs but they do ICSI because after freezing their motility is lower and some don't survive. Your insurance will only cover if you mix your DH's sperm with donor sperm? That's bizarre! My opinion, I know the costs are astronomical, but you won't miss that $1300 when you're holding that baby in your arms!

It's too bad more insurances don't defer to the medical professional's opinion of what's best. We are fortunate enough to have insurance as well and we got to skip IUI's because they would not work for us and our doctor recommended IVF. When I want to complain about dealing with insurance co's though, I think of everyone who is paying out of pocket and remember how blessed we are to be living in a state that is mandated to provide fertility insurance. We didn't know that when we moved here but it sure was the right move for us.

Sorry for the long post but I guess I can be added to the April chart. Juanamomma, I'm so sorry about your cancelled cycle!
