August Cyclers???

Hi Everyone!
DH and I decided to jump in for august IVF! I am on BCPs now until July 20th. I should get my finalized schedule this Friday. I just can't wait and have to know if anyone else is cycling in August with me!
I am starting to get really worried about the injections and if this is the right thing to do and all of those other things that pop into your head at times like these. So any advice and encouragement would be appreciated!
Good luck to everyone! FX for August BFPs!!!!

Me - (Amanda 27) My dh-- 26 We have been ttc # 1 for 3yrs 5mths My dh has severe oligospermia, Ivf with icsi is our only option. Ivf # 1--- failed Ivf # 2--- failed Ivf # 3-- hopefully in March 2013 at a new clinic!
Hi Amanda!
Im 23 and DH is 27 - we also have severe MFI and IVF with ICSI is our only option too.
I am sorry to hear about your first IVF being a BFN. I am so nervous about that. DH and I decided we will try until December this year (maybe 2 IVF cycles in that time) and then we are gonna take a year off if nothing sticks.
It kind of feels good that we have a self imposed end point and start up point for the future. Did your DH have the TESE procedure done? If so how was his recovery?
Best of luck for you in August!! I hope we are both getting BFPs!
I think your self inposed start and finish point is very logical and it will reduce alot of stress because you don't have to worry about what to do next. I love having a plan however I don't always stick to it.
I hope your first round is sucessful!

Hi Jennifer!
I look forward to sharing this crazy journey with you too! Who knew there were more MFI out there than I thought.
I see your DH had TESE done - how did it go for him? My DH is extremely nervous (understandable!)
For me personally, I
Yup - the "old fashioned way" is just never gonna work for us - and it certainly stinks, but - I just tell my self that i'm lucky enough to live in a day and age where the "old fashioned way" is definitely not the only way :)
DH had the TESE done 3 times... and I'll be brutally honest with you, the first time was a disaster. He was awake for the process, just had a local "down there". It was the morning of my ER, and it took hours, and all the sperm that was found were "not viable" as they put it... it took so long that I had already ovulated and it was too late. He was then put on clomid for 6 months to increase his testosterone and to give him time to "heal". TESE #2 he was put under (which i highly highly highly recommend for your DH), and it was done the day before my ER, (which i also highly highly highly recommend). we got sperm and a BFP, but unfortunetaly miscarried. TESE #3, again put under (the only way he would do it!!lol!), but again, the sperm were not "viable". But since my ER was not until the next day, they just kept them overnight to keep an eye on them - and wouldn't you know by morning they were swimming all around and we were ready to go, and DD is here! We even had enough that we were able to freeze 3 vials (which is good becuase physically, my DH can't go thru the TESE again - too much scar tissue after having it done 3 times).
As far as recovery for DH - its not terrible, he was certainly sore for a couple of days, but nothing unbearable - and he laughs about it now. :)
I'm not sure what your RE has discussed with you as far as timing - but again, I highly suggest doing the TESE the day before your ER, just to give those little guys some time to "wake up". It is common for them to be in "shock" sort to speak right after the TESE - so whereas someone might think they are immobile, they are really just sleeping!!! :)
Wow! Thank you so much for all of that information! I truly appreciate you sharing your story, and it does give me hope. :smileyhappy:
You are absolutely right, at least we live in a day and age where the old fashioned way isnt the only way...well put!!!
My DH is nervous about the TESE, but he is definitely being put under (I honestly don't think he would have even had the nerve to try it with just a local! your DH is brave!! lol). I am going to mention to Drs about maybe doing his a day early, i have read about other couples doing that too - which just makes total sense to me lol.
I hope your FET goes well!
Do you do any meds for those?
Can't wait to hear from more August Cyclers! :smilehappy:
I do have to do meds, but not nearly as much as a fresh cycle.
Jennifer, I think I remember you, I'm so happy you got your little miracle!
Luvinmylife, I was devastated when I first found out we had to do ivf. I always dreamed about getting preggers the 'old fashioned way' and you know just being surprised.
I am so happy I met both of you especially since we are dealing with the same issues, I think it is a good sign. I am praying we all get bfps!
