Hello ladies,

What are you doing leading up to your cycle? I have to wait a couple AF's after a chemical pregnancy. Which is fine because I would like to lower my BMI by 25 lbs.
Me 34 DH 50 Sept 2007 failed VR November 2008 2nd failed VR April 2009 failed TESA 4% motility with none to use after freeze. DH massive infection post-op two rounds of antibiotics. Set for first IVF cycle with fresh TESA and Donor back-up; ER July 13

I am really uncertain if I will be an October or November cycler. My TSH was higher than the RE wanted (3.25) and they are putting me on medicine to get it down to 2.5 or lower. That can take awhile but hopefully it won't. I just started this medicine today and I have another blood test to recheck it in 4 weeks. I am still planning on taking my BCP at the start of my cycle which should be around Sept 24th. The IVF nurse said that if my TSH doesn't get low enough in time then I would just be on BCP for a bit longer so I am ready for the meds. The number doesn't have that far to lower so I am hoping in 4 weeks it will get to 2.5.

I don't know how the timing works yet and I think I will get more info when I start my BCP. If I start BCP at the end of September then I would assume to start fertility drugs either mid-end of October. Right? I am not sure if the retrieval and transfer would be Oct or November. ??

Christy - Sounds like we are going to be really close cycle buddies!!! :) I start bcp next cycle which should be around sept 22nd. Then I should start drugs mid to late October and my clinic's next 'uptime' is Oct 31st so that would be the absolute earliest I would have ER. It's still up in the air alot for me too, but I'm happy to have someone else who will be end of October/Early November with me. :D

Hi all and welcome to the end October/November board!!!

Is everyone on their first IVF cycle? I will not be using the bcp's this time which I'm looking forward to as they make me feel yucky. But who knows how the estrogen will make me feel. At this point I'm still waiting for AF after Chemical.

I'm hoping to not let this up coming cycle disrupt my life completely. It's hard when I'm sent home on leave because my job will not give me modified duties. I'm still paid but all I do is obsess over the cycle! Hmmm November maybe I'll obsess over Christmas decorations!!!

Here's to Christmas BFP's all around!!

Wouldn't a BFP be the BEST christmas present EVER?!?!

My birthday is 2 days before christmas so I tend to get lots of 'combination presents' Well this would be one combination present I wouldn't mind. :D

I am a bfp virgin so I really hope it finally happens. This will also be my first IVF. I like that we will know for sure by christmas if we have it early enough in novemeber since IVF doesn't consider it a real BFP until there's a heartbeat at 6 weeks or so.

Meanwhile I am already having lots of up and down days and I'm not even on hormones yet. lol Somedays (like today) I feel really hopeful and optimistic that it will work and this time next year I will be a mommy. Then other days I'm terrified it won't work and we'll just be in bigger debt and what am I doing, etc etc. My husband is pretty much always optimistic and has even told his irl friends that he will be a daddy this time next year.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Elizabeth - Why don't they considered it a real BFP until the heartbeat is heard with IVF?

Well I don't know if its NOT a BFP before then but you aren't released to a regular obgyn until they hear a heartbeat at the ivf clinic. So I heard. My doctor didn't tell me. But on one of my 'success rate' charts had a star by pregnancy rates and they said it was determined by heartbeats. Then the live birth rate was a second figure. I've also read in a few books that they dont release you to a regular obgyn until they hear the heartbeat. I will definitely feel easier once I hear a heartbeat. (not that I won't be insanely happy with just a positive beta).

**edit**I just pulled out my success rate chart and it says 'clinical pregnancies are defined as detection of fetal cardiac activity by ultrasound. confirmation of a clnical pregnancy does not guaranteea live birth outcome.'

ually...they consider your Beta to prove the BFP. They will typically release you to your OB after they SEE the heartbeat between 5-6 weeks. The Internal ultrasound is used to see the heartbeat about 2 weeks after your second beta.

The heartbeat cannot be heard until 9-11 weeks..even later in some cases..but the flicker can be seen as early as 5-6 weeks.

Once your RE sees and confirms the HB (or heartBEATS!!)...they will release you! I hope you ALL get there!!

Good luck!
