Cycling in June?

I graduated to IVF after another failed IUI. In fact, I'm waiting for AF to arrive and she's not cooperating. I stopped taking the progesterone supplements 5 days ago and all I've done is a little spotting yesterday. Anyway, as soon as she gets it together I can start the BCPs on CD3. I'm more than a little scared of this but since we really decided to take this plunge, I'm eager to get going! We've been TTC for 3 years and have had one m/c...I'm ready for a triumph!

BCPs for 21 days (I guess?) and then on to lupron. Who's with me?

Ugh. I heard back from my RE today that I will probably be on Follistim at least 11 days and the rest of the time will be on this high dose, so I had to order 2 more Follistims from the pharmacy. Just got off the phone with them and it's another $1500!! Wow, that's an expensive med! I don't think I'm even going to tell DH about it. 11 days will be Monday, which would nicely put our ER before Saturday, but I'm not holding my breath for that yet. I'm finally starting to feel twinges in my ovary areas, so hopefully this higher dose is working. My weight is actually down, lower than it's been in years, but that is due to the restricting diet I'm on and I had been exercising good since January, though I hadn't now for about a week and a half until last night (only did last night because the acupuncturist brought it up). I know the weight gain will come, I had a mild case of OHSS with my last IUI and looked about 4-5 months preggo, so I'm sure I will be gaining again soon.

Lauren, my cousin had just told my family about embryo adoption a few months ago. I have one sister with children and one who is in the same boat as me, though she did IVF once and it didn't work out for them. There are 6 years between us and they are very encouraging about doing this before I get any older. Anyway, they still talk about embryo adoption from time to time. Maybe I'll share your story with her, if you don't mind. That's nice that the first clinic did your leg work for you to make your first time less stressful.

Chouli, it's weird, some days I feel bloated and bigger and then other days not. That's why I weighed myself today, just outta curiosity, to find out between the new diet plan and meds what was going on. :) I have to say

Unfortunately I can't help you with the estradiol level question. I do know what you mean about the idea that you SHOULD know something. I teach high school and college biology and I feel like I should be able to answer your question. What I know is at the begining of the cycle, when you're stimming, your E2 should be low and rise to 2000 in time for the trigger. There are two other nurses here on this thread, so maybe they can shed some light.
Welcome to the group! Sounds like you've got a great support system at home. I will keep my FX for you.

Thanks so much Chouli for replying...

I keep reading that the level should be less than 80 on day 3 before you start stims...mine for some reason was 147, it's never been that before...i'm wondering if it could be because i went from one injectable cycle for IUI staright to another??? i just don't know. i don't really understand any of it. My initial FSH on the clomid challenge was 6.4 yet since then it seems to always be raised...which i'm not to surprised about as i'm 40! I'm just confused now as to what my chances are of it working!! ...i read a research paper that said if you start an IVF cycle with a raised Estradiol level, it was likely that the cycle would fail!

i need to stop googling! my dh hates it that i start to worry because of what i've read...but i need to know even if it upsets me...and i need to make a plan!

it's a long road... fingers crossed for you to and thanks again,

Tracey

I thought I did add you. Didn't you have your name at the bottom of your post (Tracey)?

Then that is why they have us take BCP for a month before stimming, and some even take a few weeks of lupron first. I think you are within your rights to ask your RE and let him/her know your concerns. Maybe since the E2 ranges so much, your RE doesn't feel that 60 give-or-take isn't significant? I don't know, but you're entitled to know.
