Doc said my eggs looked bad????

Hi everyone,

My name is Betsy, I am 40 years old. I am sorry I do not know many of the acronyms here.

I had my ET today (5th day) and this was my 3rd IVF cycle.

I responded to this cycle the best. I had 12 eggs and 9 fertilized. I feel great and I have been so excited and happy through out this cycle! Every day I would get an update on my 9 and the Embryologist was always so positive. I felt great! All 9 were all still thriving by the time I got there this morning.

I was so happy.

My doctor walked in said his hellos and then went over all the embryos. He looked at me like he was my father and said......your eggs look bad. I was like WHAT??? One was a blast and all the others were doing great and almost there. How could bad eggs be thriving???? Can anyone help me with the answer to that?

The one that was a blast was a early stage blast on day 5. He said that was not encouraging, he would have like to have seen all the embryos more advanced by day 5. What am I missing??

Now I am on bedrest and I am so worried and hopeless.

Some of the ugliest eggs have turned into beautiful babies. On day 5 most Dr would like them to be blast but some eggs are just slower then others. With my clinic if they were not blasts on day 5 they grow them out to day 6 to see which ones make it. They have just as much success with day 6 transfers as they do day 5.

Main thing is you can't change anything so now you just have to sit back, relax and enjoy being PUPO (pregnant until proven otherwise)

Good Luck!!

I think they want them to be blasts by day 5---that said, they just never know which one is going to be a healthy baby. My first IVF cycle I transferred the most gorgeous looking blast---BFN. The next time they weren't as good---and BFP. You just never know.
