Anyone used these inserts? Tips? Cautions?

I feel like the applicator does not look user friendly... ??

I have the option of using the inserts three times a day or one PIO shot a day...

ADVICE PLEASE!!! :smileyhappy:

tryinghard.. i just put it up there as far as i can..  as long as it is inserted its no big deal and  once it is in you don't notice that its a big pill.  the issues afterwards is the leaking and mess that comes out afterwards.  get used to wearing pantyliners.   I do use the PIO shots but I only do the PIO every other day.    I had some bleeding yesterday which i think was caused by the suppositoris so RE said i don't have to do them anymore.. WOOHHOOO!!!

I am a big shot-phobic, but I would do the PIO again, if cycle again. There are ways to minimize the discomforts of the shots and I just preferred having to do the one shot than the insert 3x day.

Some women don't do well with the PIO (discomfort from injection site) and some women don't do well with the inserts (spotting from irritation to cervix). Just because you start one method, does not preclude changing if it does not work for you.

Cons for the PIO
IM Injection
Location of injection site may be hard to do if self administered
Can cause bruising to injection site
May form lumps under the skin if not disbursed

Cons for the inserts
More daily administrations
Messy
Can cause irritation to cervix because of method of administration which may cause spotting

I probably didn't hit all the cons for each type, but those are what I can think of off the top of my head.

I used EndoMetrin in my first two successful IVF attempts. And PIO for my last IVF attempt...also successful.

The PIO was a PIA! The shots were harder on me than most.....we hit a nerve and I was crippled for Days, I got terrible Swollen Welts...... and since I am thinner.... there wasn't much padding to save me from that needle!

The suppositories were messier....but I did not mind a BIT!!! The applicator, though kind of "oval"...DOES glide in easily, and then you just push the plunger up and it inserts. Admittedly, there were a few times I just shoved it WAY up there with my finger. And yes..I also used panty liners for the dripping residue. It wasn't pretty...and if DH and I wanted to DTD.... I always jumped his bones after a bath and BEFORE I inserted the next one! LOL

I don't think it has to go in real far, maybe 2"?

The insert pills (flat white pill, kind of big)? Hmm idea..thanks. How far in does it have to go? That is what is scaring me.

Why cant you do PIO??? Too much pain over time?

thanks for your input :smileyhappy: the applicator is kind of rectangular not round (which scrared me) and it seems like it wont "glide" easy. maybe i am overthinking :smileyhappy: thanks again!

I used times 3x a day for my fresh (successful) cycle. They are messy but a panty liner took care of it. I don't remember the applicator being lame...but it was 3 years ago so maybe I blocked it out ;-) I've never done PIO and I hope not to. I know some women prefer it to suppositories but most report serious butt discomfort with it.
