Hi ladies, sadly i discovered this board after my IVF cycle which resulted in my DD who is now 15 months old. I would like to attempt a FET in the summer so after recieving my embryo storage bill i called the lab to make sure i remembered what i had frozen... and sad to say its not what i remember. On day 3 i had 5 embryos frozen ( i thought i had 8) 2 6 cell grade B, and 3 5 cell grade B ( A is the best E is the worst at my clinic) I thought i had several 7 cell but i guess i was wrong? ive never been through a FET but i do frequent IF boards and see most people have embryos stored at blast stage obviously none of these would have been blasts on day 5. I asked the embryologist what she thought of them and she gave me a very general "grade B is good 5 and 6 cell embroys are capable of creating a pregnancy" which yes i knew

Hi Taressa, I don't know anything about FET bc we will likely never have any to freeze. since we go way back from Infertility Support, i just wanted to tell you i am excited you are going for number 2. Good luck!!!

Hi Taressa,

I would be thrilled to have five frozen.

- Sandy (44) DS (natural) born just before my 41st birthday. TTC#2. Only issue: egg/embryo quality due to age. Clomid & multiple IUIs w/follistim &menopur = BFN. IVF#1 (Nov 2011) = 12 eggs, 9 mature & fertilized. Transferred 3 embryos (1-3BB, 2-3

Taressa,

I have no personal experience with FET as none of my embryos were ever made the grade to freeze past transfer. My embryologist always watched them out to six days before making the call to freeze or not. I actually wish they would have frozen some of them at an earlier stage like yours, because I would have at least had a chance to try with them. Because we are OOP 100% as well, another fresh cycle is probably out of reach.

But, in the time I have been on the IVF boards, I have seen a lot of ladies go through FET's, The majority do use 5 day blasts, but I have seen many who have had embryos frozen at an earlier stage. I have seen some succeed and some fail. I wouldn't count out your little ones! They had the quality to be frozen, and if they survive the thaw (many do), then you've got some pretty strong little embryos.

Talk to your RE and find out what their experience has been with FET using embryos of similar development.

Hmmmm, Most would say GO FOR IT.....The 2 6-grade sound VERY promising! In my first IVF.....we retrieved 17 eggs...transferred 3...and froze 8. Because all three took *Triplets*...but lost 2 of them..... and the fact that we lost them to schromosomal issues...I donated the remaining to science....assuming we would not use them (I was 38) and they might not be the greatest quality.

A year later....after our DD was born.... I went back for a Fresh cycle. Again...17 eggs....but only 2 made it to transfer and the rest arrested. I got my BFP...but lost the baby at 8 weeks.

3 months after that....Fresh Cycle #3. This time I used donor eggs (My sisters). We got 24 eggs. All mature..and 23 fertilized. We transferred 2.....and froze the rest. I am currently 8w3d Pregnant. I just paid the storage fees for 2012. If this pregnancy goes well..and a baby is born...we will never use them...so i will likely donate them to a couple in need. I am 40.....I can't do this much longer. BUT..if this pregnancy fails..... I MAY attempt an FET....since I am also OOP and it is is about 1/3 the cost. But...I am always in the mindset that a fresh cycle is better. BUT..I know ALOT of ladies on here that the fresh failed..and the FET's worked!!! The FET's carry pretty good stats......

I hope you go for it one way or another!!!! Keep us posted!

I understand where you are coming from with the storage bill. I was something paying that every year. My embryo has been stored since 2008. My thing is they would have never froze it if is wasn't good enough to use...and 6 is a lot. I only have one stored the is a 2BB and when I went for my first appt with this new RE, he said they had to let the embryologist review it to see if they would even consider using it. An FET is much cheaper, so its not like they would have made money off of me (i am 100%OOP too). and after reviewing it and talking to the storage facility, they said I could use it. As, I research I know 2 not good and B is right in the middle. I just have to use it. So if I were you I would go for it. Tell hubby its cheaper than starting from stratch!
