Hi Amanda! Fancy meeting you here. ;) Thanks for the welcome. I hope your stay here is short too. :)

Hi Sarah! Thanks for the welcome and information on your BMI. I am worried about complications due to my weight. I've been trying to think things like 'do i want that ice cream more than i want a baby?' lol Meanwhile when I met my husband I was much thinner than I am now, overweight, but not obese. I gained nearly 80 pounds in the first two years of knowing him. I was only at my top weight for a little bit and then started losing so while its good that I'm getting back down I'm unsure how good the yo-yo-ing is. I am looking forward to hearing the RE's opinion tomorrow. (eeee!!! tomorrow!!!!)

Hi Sheri! Thanks for the reply. Dh's urologist suggested something called proseed but it is like 150 bucks a month so I looked at the active ingredients and got him some supplements of the same stuff online. :) I hope its helping, he's been on it over a month now so I don't know if any improvement will show on this next SA (his last SA was in June). I hope it does! Also he doesn't drink. He drinks at Halloween and the Superbowl, sometimes. And due to his meds he can't drink while on them so lately he hasn't been drinking at even those two occassions. I can't remember when he drank alcohol last. hrmm.. but he does smoke just under a pack a day so I *know* that hurts him. I've been making sure he takes his vitamins and eats pretty healthy. Since we're both trying to lose weight there is rarely junk in our house anymore. :)

I think all of my pre-testing is done and they have all our records. Even though they have all of Dh's records too I know they want to do their own SA. They haven't been able to do morphology or anything on DH's sperm because the count was too low but I am sure their 'experts' will be able to do that even with the low counts even though the lab we went to did not so I am kind of looking forward to those results. :) Other than that I dont think there will be any testing on my part. Thanks for the info on your doctors saying it would be 4 hrs for the consult and it only being one. That gives me hope that I will be able to make it back to work at a decent time. :) Meanwhile congrats on your BFP!! :)

Thanks again everyone! I will update tomorrow night with what I learned! :)

Welcome! I wish you all the luck in the world! My DH has a lot of health issues (major complications from diabetes, which even resulted in his IF). He is on a zillion meds he cannot get off of. He had to do MESA/TESE (as stated in my siggy) to extract his swimmers (which we had no idea if they were there or not). Anyhow, his urologist gave him this supplement called Fertile Life antioxidant blend (my DH calls it "semen gold" lol), which he was on for a good three months before and during our cycle. Plus, I made him eat everything that helped produce good and healthy sperm (pumpkin seeds, iron/organic red meat, etc -- you can read the lists on numerous websites if you haven't already). He also did not drink any alcohol since December, and we cycled in April). I ate totally organic (I'm a vegetarian anyway) and really worked out until I got AF to start our cycle. I did not work out at all during the cycle and ended up on bed rest for over two months this summer (so the illusion of that fit preggo woman I thought I'd be is just that, an illusion! Of course, well worth it!). I really believe that all the eating and the supplement helped DH produce really healthy sperm though he was on numerous meds and is in his forties. I think you are fine with your BMI since you have lost 15% of your weight already.

About me: Sheri 35, DH 42, happily married 16 years, 3 furbabies TTC#1 since forever, MFI (complications from Type 1 Diabetes) December, February IUIs cancelled. One thing after another. March IVF stopped for uterine polyps (my turn to have something

Welcome to the board and congrats on the steps you've taken so far! I also have PCOS, and my last cycle my BMI was almost 32. It sounds like you are very well organized which should help them do what's best for you individually. They like you to be as fit as possible, the extra weight makes the stimulation medications not work as effectively and puts you at a higher risk of complications. That being said, I did my best and couldn't lose anymore and we went ahead with the cycle- I did require more meds than when I stimmed when I was in better shape but overall things went well and it was successful.
If you know you can only afford one cycle I would make sure to take their recommendations very seriously, if they are comfortable proceeding than you're probably good to go!
