Intro - IVF #1 in January
Thu, 09-29-2011 - 7:44pm

Hello! I just wanted to introduce myself...I see some familiar faces (hi Amanda & Elizabeth!). We're fresh off a visit with our RE's nurse IVF coordinator where we went over our upcoming IVF cycle. We'll be doing a long Lupron cycle which will begin in December. ER/ET should be early January. I'm sure I'll have millions of questions and lots of anxiety that I'll need you ladies for :)

A little about us...I'm 29 (will turn the big three-oh on Thanksgiving) and DH is 31. We've been TTC for 3 years, 9 months and are dealing with MFI. We've done several IUIs despite DH's low numbers, and one actually worked in October 2009. Unfortunately, even after seeing the heartbeat twice, we lost it and eventually miscarried right before Christmas that year. Our last IUI attempt was February of this year and we decided to stop paying for IUIs and start planning for IVF. It wasn't until August that I finally was able to accept the fact that we had to do IVF and moved past my anger and resentment. Now I'm really excited about it and can't wait tot start. I still have a lot of anxiety about the money that we're putting on the line...but that's natural, I'm sure. Family has helped us out along the way, and we'll finance whatever is left. We are rolling in a new (low budget) kitchen remodel with the financing so that if IVF fails, I'll at least be making monthly payments on something that I can actually enjoy.

Anyways, AF just showed up yesterday so I have a sonohistogram and mock ET scheduled in a couple weeks. Then we wait until CD 21 of my November cycle to get things started.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone and cheering everyone on!

Hi Jamie - I remember your username from the other board even though I don't frequent it much anymore. I also am doing my first IVF coming up in November and there are so many questions and unknowns that we have to deal with.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Christy...I remember you from TTCAM. I don't go there much anymore though. Anyways, no BCPs. They're having me start Lupron shots on CD 21 of my November cycle, then I'll have a Lupron menses and then start all the egg shots.

You know, I think she prescribed me something for the sonohystogram but I thought it was more of an antibiotic. I'll have to go back and see what it is. The scheduling nurse said it wouldn't take very long and I'd be able to drive back to work afterward. Hopefully it's not too painful!

Good luck to you in November! The money part is definitely daunting but it will all work out in the end, somehow.

*waves to Jamie*

Yay for getting started in November!!! I like your idea of financing the kitchen with the IVF. Hopefully it will be a win win!

Good luck!

Hi, my name is Kia and I will be going thru IVF soon as well. I got accepted into a program that pays for your IVF as long as you have never tried anything before, except natural conception. We suffer from MFI so I'm hoping the IVF will produce our little miracle. Good luck Jamie & everyone else :)

Feeling anxious & nervous for our apt on Friday. If all goes well I will start BCP next week I believe & all the other meds soon after. This is only the beginning of the journey for me & DH. Reading some of the posts on here I don't know what to expect from our first round of IVF. I think about if it doesn't work how many times will we have to try, will I have other complications, how many weeks will go by before I can rest assured that the pregnancy is viable....oh so many thoughts & some answers are positive while others are a sad reality of TTC. I just pray God blesses us on this trip & that he keeps me comforted during this time. Hope this note finds everyone well & blesses you all on the journey of TTC.
