IVF Coming Soon!

Hi everyone.  My hubby and I have an IVF consultation Dec. 14th where we'll do our final blood tests and get my drug protocol.  I think I already have all my questions answered since I've talked to the IVF lady a couple times now along with the nurses.  I went out and bought about 15 pairs of new cute socks to celebrate, since it's the only thing I'll be able to keep on during these appt.sLaughing I've given up on IUI, but we're going to do our 4th anyway in December, while we're getting everything in the works to start IVF in January.  So here's something I could use advice on from those of you who have gone through IVF....  I am currently in an MBA program with 5 classes left til graduation.  I signed up for my next class to be on-line, starting in January.  Do you think it's too much to take a hard Finance course while doing IVF?  On one hand I want to eliminate stress, but on the other, I know that it will never be easy to finish this program... especially if I'm trying to finish with a baby.  Any advice?   THanks!

I think having an online course to focus on will help keep your mind busy.  While IVF does require appointments and such there is also a lot of idle time that can give you too much time to think and dwell on your cycle. Good luck!!!!

  1. Thanks Caryn.  You are probably right.  If I'm not doing homework, I will be obsessing on the internet way too much!

I tried to reply yesterday but it wouldn't let me. I agree to go for it. It will keep your mind off of ivf a bit!

Hi! I believe I'm starting my IVF cycle in January/February so will be right there with you. I also am taking an online course to complete my Master's degree and am planning on continuing through pregnancy up to birth and see what happens then. The on line seems to be a lot less stress for me. Good luck to you!

Me (36) DH (38)- me-unexplained IF/hypothyroid -DH-counts good, but volume is low; Married in 2006, off birth control pill. Started officially trying in March of 2009.
2 rounds clomid/ovidrel 2009, 1 round femara/iui, 2010, 2 rounds follistim/iui 2010. Weight loss surgery 2011.  Back to new RE 2012: HSG normal, AMH 0.43= DOR; IVF with microdose flare protocol in February 2013.

I want to wish you good luck on your IVF. I had my IVF miracle baby on Sept 10th and I can't believe he is 3 months old already. I did 6 IUIs with one loss before trying IVF. Good luck!

Thanks so much Caryn. Once I start my cycle I'll be posting much more. For now I'm just waiting for CD1 so I can schedule my repeat HSG, then consult again for IVF the end of December to see what we are doing. I hate waiting! The school keeps my mind off things sometimes, but of course this week is the end of the semester so I'll have a whole month off to obsess. :)

Thanks everyone for the replies!  I had my last IUI on Wed. this week and the timing and conditions seemed to be good.  We also had our IVF consultation yesterday.  The financial lady actually asked me why I wasn't smiling.  Are you serious? I'm pretty sure I gave an aweful look for the picture that the clinic required.  Anyway, it turns out that because I have to take an antibiotic a couple weeks before my next cycle begins, I won't be able to start IVF until February.  I can't take the antibiotic now because I did the IUI and there could be side effects to the baby if I happened to be preg.  I get really aggravated when something throws off my plan, so I'm pretty POd right now.  Jezebel, keep me posted on your progress and good luck getting through all this stress with school and thinking about a baby.

Good luck with your IUI!  How is the wait treating you?  Hopefully you're so busy with fun holiday stuff it's making the time fly by.

Some people are excited to start IVF but I totally understand not being excited to have to go through it.  Sorry the antibiotics threw a monkey wrench into the timing.  It always seems like something happens to delay things. Hopefully this IUI works and you don't have to worry about any of it, good luck!!!

Thank you Caryn! I'm hanging in there for the wait.  I have no symptoms whatsoever, so I don't think the IUI worked.  That's ok, I'm just ready to get on with it.  Wish I could fast-forward to Feb.! Smile
