So nervous, but a lot has been happening so I'll recap:  Previously unexplained IF, just got AMH level back at 0.43 (I am 36) so that pretty much sucks.  We're going with a microdose flare protocol starting BCP's in January and stimming in February.  So very nervous but excited at the same time!  Is anyone else cycling?  The boards seem to have slowed down a lot.

Me (36) DH (38)- me-unexplained IF/hypothyroid -DH-counts good, but volume is low; Married in 2006, off birth control pill. Started officially trying in March of 2009.
2 rounds clomid/ovidrel 2009, 1 round femara/iui, 2010, 2 rounds follistim/iui 2010. Weight loss surgery 2011.  Back to new RE 2012: HSG normal, AMH 0.43= DOR; IVF with microdose flare protocol in February 2013.

Hi, I'm new to the board... new to IVF too...
My husband and I decided to have genetic testing done after a friend and his wife had a baby with a rare genetic disorder called NKH. It's a very rare condition, and the fact that both parents were carriers was even more rare.
We decided to do the responsible thing and get the testing done. I came back as a carrier for SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), so we tested my husband and to our shock he is also a carrier. We couldn't believe it, but I'm so glad we got checked.
After meeting with a genetic counselor we decided to go through IVF with PGD rather than trying to conceive naturally because we don't want to be in the situation of making a decision after finding out results from an amniosintesis.
My family is being somewhat supportive- i've gotten a lot of " god doesn't give you more than you can handle" and "it will all work out, but they still think we should just try naturally being that we're both young (I'm 28 and my DH is 26) - they don't seem to realize genetics are genetics regardless of age.
I started Lupron injections on the 18th of this month, and was a bit nervous about the injections and what side effects I might have... I'm a special education kindergarten/first grade teacher, so I've been nervous if it will affect my mood or patience level. My doctor says it won't but I've heard differently from others...
The whole process is very overwhelming - all the tests, all the injections, the financial aspects... Went for a sonogram and blood work today - waiting to hear back on what comes next... So far they're thinking we'll do egg retrieval the 2nd week of January... I can't wait for the whole process to be in full swing, I have always wanted to be a mother more than anything in the world. I can't wait to have our own family.

I did a lupron flare protocol with my sucessful fresh IVF cycle in 2009.  It worked great for me.  Hope it does for you too!  February will be here before you know it =)

Hi ladies!  Count me in.  I'm so excited today.  I thought I was going to have to wait until February to start my IVF cycle because I didn't think I could get all the drugs and paperwork completed in time for January given that I had to wait for a BFN from my IUI cycle.  Well, I got the BFN yesterday so I called the clinic today.  The nurse immediately called in my meds to Freedom and they are going to be here tomorrow!!  Also, I'm doing a money back guarantee so my husband has to send the money in for that tomorrow.  I'm about 2 hours away from my clinic, so it will be an all day thing to go for my ultrasounds.  I'll be taking Menopur, Gonal-F RFF Pen, Ganirelix, and then an Ovidrel trigger with Progesterone suppositories towards the end of the cycle.  The bill was $3,300.00  wow!  For the egg retrieval day, they ordered one Valium pill.  Anybody know if this is typical?  I hope the egg retrieval is not painful.  I've never taken Valium before.  Anyway, I'll do whatever it takes at this point.  I feel so desperate, but I actually have a spark of hope today!

Hi Jamie, Wow, that's great that you were able to find out that you were both carriers before proceeding with TTC. Age has nothing to do with genetics and sometimes others can't see that. I have not told our parents yet (our siblings know) and I'm really nervous how to do that. My mom sort of knows that we've been seeing an RE but that's about it. I am very cautious what I tell her, she had 10 miscarriages (2nd trimester) and I am her only live birth. She never got counseling and is still not over it so I'm nervous to tell her incase it doesn't end up in a healthy baby, but I'm trying to remember that it's my turn to get the support and not feel guilty about it. I work in early childhood and have previously done IUI's with injections so I'm used to the sub-q, mood swings, etc... and i don't think it affected my ability to deal with the kids. I am concerned about the PIO shots but have been you tubing the process and it seems like everyone is nervous but it isn't as bad as it seems. Lots of luck to you, keep me posted!

HI Acortie, That's great that you didn't have to have much down time between cycles. So during monitoring you have to go 2 hours away each time? There's no way to do it closer to you? Wow! I have nothing to complain about! I was distressed because the ER and ET will be an hour away at their main office. I go to a satelite office 10 min. from my house for the appointments/monitoring. I've never taken Valium but have taken xanax for anxiety so I'm guessing it'll be close to that? I know they put you under anesthesia (sedation only) for the ER.

Hi Caryn, Yay! It's good to hear from someone who had a successful cycle with my same protocol. I'm starting to get really nervous just anticipating everything. I have to call the RE on day 1 for them to tell me when to start the BCP's, they will then schedule the sonohystergram and cervical culture (they do this before all cycles), they will then order my meds, I will schedule the injection class and consent signing appt., I'll come in on day 21 for a mock transfer, then start stimming after BCP's end. It's a lot to take in and because I'm waiting to start my cycle I feel like I am in limbo. AF is due next week I think on 1/6 or 1/7. Until then I'm trying not to obsess. I am going to start doing acupuncture in the next 2 weeks and also go for massages until I start stimming. I am also considering buying a visualization cd specifically for IVF I read about. Trying to keep thinking positive!

I just got all my drugs and in less than 24 hours from the time they were called in.  Amazing!  And my husband went to the bank this a.m., so the payment is in the mail for the money-back guarantee.  It covers 3 fresh and 3 frozen cycles for $17,500 and 70% money back if no live birth.  (My insurance doesn't cover anything.)  It seemed to be the best deal in the area, which is why I'm going to that clinic 2 hrs away.  I suppose if we got pregnant the first cycle we'd be slightly bummed for over spending, but I really liked the idea of no pressure. If it doesn't work the first time, oh well, we've paid for another cycle.  Although we'll have to dish out more money for the drugs... sheeesh!!

Isn't it amazing how fast the meds can get here?!  Shame the rest of the mail/ups/fed ex packages can't work that quickly, right?! :)  That seems like a terrific deal for that many cycles.  We were self pay with all our IUI's, clomid, femara cycles in 2009/2010 and we were lucky enough to have my husband get a new job in september that covers several treatment cycles.  It is nice to know that if this doesn't work, there's another chance already waiting.  I just purchased an IVF meditation download on itunes tonight and listened to it.  I have serious ADD and could only get through 10 minutes of laying there, but loved what I listened to so far. My goal is to listen to it at least 5 times per week.

I try not to obsess in cycles too...but it never works =)  Luckily once they start up they keep you so busy it goes really fast.  Waiting for AF is the worst though...that hag never shows up when she's wanted and ALWAYS shows up when not wanted.  Hope she doesn't keep you in limbo.

Jezebel, let me know how you like the Acupuncture and if you think it's beneficial.  Also, what is on your meditation CD?  Is it like nature sounds?

Well today starts my cycle day 1.  I have a baseline u/s this Wednesday and I guess I'll start the injections that day too!  Yippie.  I'm actually excited to start jabbing myself with needles.. who would have thought?!? lol.  So I figured out from reading some other sites that I'm on the antagonist protocol for meds.  Not sure what that means, but at least I don't have any intramuscular injections.
