IVF + looking for a new job

I am being laid off later this summer (they gave us 4 months notice). At the same time, I am trying to figure out when to return to the IVF clinic for our second attempt. I am thinking either June or July. I'll be 34 later this year and I really don't want to prolong it anymore. I was lucky with my first IVF cycle in that I didn't miss ANY work days. My ET was on thanksgiving and my transfer was on a sunday. I was at the clinic every day for monitoring by 7 and at my desk by 9am. I ended up getting pregnant with twins but lost them both at 17 weeks due to an infection.

I am really worried that I will find a new job AFTER I'm pregnant (I hope I get pregnant!!) and even though it's illegal, no employer is going to hire a pregnant woman. I'm also worried that if I get pregnant shortly after being hired, they will assume I'm there JUST for the medical benefits (which isn't true) and find a legal excuse to get rid of me after I give birth. Then I will be looking for another job one year from now.

I know I can't put my personal life on hold, and I get good benefits from my DH's job, but I am worried how to proceed!

Any advice?

I'm so sorry that you are having to endure all of this pain and uncertainty.

Job hunting in and of itself is stressful, let alone going through IVF and loss.

All I can say is that you have to do what is best for YOU and not to worry about your potential new employer.

Good luck with your job search and I hope that everything works out.
