I don't think we have an official January Cyclers Club so I will start a thread. I know a bunch of us were kinda in the December group (winter cyclers) but I thought I still would do one for our January ladies.

My info:
I am Christy and just turned 37 and DH is 42. We have been trying for our first since 2006 and finally went to the RE in 2010. (I know, we should have went sooner but DH wanted things to happen naturally). Since 2010, I had one ectopic on my first IUI and 5 BFN IUIs so I am onto IVF. There were a few delays and I am finally ready to start my first IVF cycle. Thank goodness!!!

Jen:

Welcome aboard!!! (The Crazy Train!). Our first IVF was when I was 37 going on 38...and our last one (Just finished with DONOR eggs) was at age 40. I have been thru 2 IUI's and 3 IVF's...and Yes, with the IVF..my dosage was higher. I used Follistim (Bravelle-like) mixed with Menopur. I typically stimmed for 8-10 days and produced 17 follicles with each cycle (ER). Mind you.....at my age...only 3-4 of them were transfer worthy. I suspect you will see that your dosage SHOULD be higher.

Mock Transfers are common/Saline Ultrasounds too.....the Saline ultrasound is to check the shape and "health" of your uterus....to make sure you are polyp free/Proper shape and size/position of uterus. The mock transfer allows them to feed the catheter into the uterus to make sure you aren't like me.....with a CURVE along along the path to the uterus (My cervix curves to the right). Basically...it is a practice transfer to make sure they get those embies where they need to go!!!

GoodLuck...I will be cheering you on!

Hi Lindsay.. Yes, we should stop meeting like this! Yes, this is the first time I've tried this protocol. I'm anxious to see if it has any different results. I'm very nervous and anxious. Glad to hear about your BFP! Have you been released yet to your OB?

TallGal...Hell No!! I am just about 4 weeks 1 days today..according the the RE tracker. Going in for second beta and Progesterone check tommorrow.... Progesterone has been a bit of a Wanker for me this time...doing the PIO shots for the first time. Let's see...Hit a Blood Vessel and felt like I was bleeding to death. Also hit my Sciatic Nerve and could not WALK for 2 days. Now...I have a softball sized swelling on the right side....that well...quite frankly..has given me cause to call myself Quasi modo! My progesterone was Normal..but Low Normal earlier this week.....so now I have been doing TWO damn shots a day PLUS a lovely Bonus Crinone Gel Suppository to Up the antie......

The Joys of IVF...... I just don;t understand why EVERYONE doesn't want to try it. It's like....Flowers...Caught in the sunset at just the right angle..on a carribean island.....with BLUE water and Bikinis.....and Cocktails that get you drunk but don;t hurt your fetus...... Yes....Yes.... Just like that.

Lindz - You are way too funny. Good luck with your 2nd beta. I'm sure it will be through the roof. :smileyhappy:

I can't believe that I am finally having my baseline ultrasound and blood work tomorrow. It has been a long haul to get here and now I just pray that the bloodwork is fine. I am not sure what happens if it isn't. Don't they check estrogen levels or something like that. I stopped my BCP when they told me too. I think AF is coming as I feel a tad bit crampy. We will see how the follistim goes on Dec 30th.

Gals - Don't forget that you can deduct IVF and other fertility related things on your taxes (this includes your meds.) If your medical expenses are over 7.5% of your income then you can (or something to that effect). Check if out if you haven't already.

Good Luck on your first round of MANY Ultrasounds and B/W. Yes..they ARE checking your E2 (Estogen levels)..... I can't believe you are finally getting closer to Stimming!!!!! At my baseline..I think I HAD my period (Light....but still gross!!). I guess they are used to that! LOL

I deducted our first IVF......and actually got about 4000K MORE on top of our "usual" return. this year..we actually have TWO full IVF cycles to deduct......so I better see enough Return to pay off ONE of the IVF credit cards!!! LOL

Good Luck Today Christy!!!!

Second Beta...Two days earlier than it was supposed to be was 339. Progesterone looks good too. OB Scan (U/S) on January 12th. That seems SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO far away. LOL.

I was pretty dehydrated today too...... And got stuck TWICE before they chnaged to a baby needle and drew from my hand (I have great hand veins!)

My swelling from PIO...WORSE. Looks like a softball really DID bury itself in my hip!

I think I ma the last of the december cyclers.....no one seems to post there anymore. So I'll just sit pretty here....with all of you!
