mock transfer questions

hi. my mock transfer and hysteroscopy in thursday! it was my understanding that they were just looking around to get the lay of the land and the measurements of my anatomy; however, i am finding out that my husband is going to provide a sample and that we both have to take antibiotics... i am a little unclear as to why they are using his sperm for this.
Not sure why they are having you take abx for the mock transfer. I had to take them for the actual transfer but not the mock. Maybe you could ask them? My guess on the SA is they just want another sample to see how things are looking closer to the time he will be providing a sample for your actual cycle.
Good luck!
Caryn
Hi Jen. I took abx prior to my mock too...I think it's just an extra precaution and it can't really hurt.
I agree with Caryn on DH providing a sample. Doesn't really have anything to do with the mock, but it gives them idea of what they'll be working with. I'm not quite sure why he has to take the abx too though?
now i am really confused... i am communicating with the IVF coordinator by email.
That is interesting. We never had to take antibiotics before the mock transfer / saline sonogram. I will have to take antibiotics after ER though. I swear, each RE does things differently and you can ask 10 REs and they will give you different answers. It doesn't seem to be a set in stone science and there is a lot of flexibility with various drugs and whatnot.
Good luck. My IUIs always hurt like a son of a gun and they always gave me valium so they gave me valium for the mock too. It worked like a charm.
thanks ladies. all done, the hysteroscopy hurt a good little bit... bearable but not fun by any means.
