I have been lurking here for a while but I think I am ready to introduce myself. My name is Lydia and I am 35 years old. DH is John and he is 46. We have been married for 4 years and ttc for 3. I have a pretty rough medical history. About 2 years ago I had a 5 lb dermoid mass removed from my abdomen. Thankfully it was benign. However with the mass my right ovary, right fallopian tube, and a few inches of intestine had to be removed. A few months after the surgery I was able to conceive naturally. Unfortunately I miscarried at 11 weeks. We tried for another year after the loss and then finally went to the dr.
It was discovered during an HSG that my left tube is 100% blocked by scar tissue from the surgery. It also appears that my intestine has adhered to my abdominal wall. The dr has said that ivf is probably our best bet. We have already been to the first seminar and meet with the dr again on Tuesday. I am assuming this is also just an information meeting where we have to discuss things like embryo freezing and the like.
Needless to say I am very worried. It seems like my body does not have a very good track record with all things related to babies. Our insurance only covers two rounds and we do not have the finances to do anything out of pocket. I am hopeful but trying not to get my hopes up at the same time.
I enjoy reading all the entries and am just looking for personal experiences and words of wisdom.
