I did my first IVF at 37 and my second at 39. My protocol was 225iu of Follistim with one 75 vial of menupur each night. When we did our UIU's YEARS ago.....we used 150 of Follistim.
I agree...I think your doctor is NOT on the right track...but he has the medical license...not me. I am not sure why you are starting on such a low dose, and Not using Menopur or Gona-f as a "supplement" WITH your follistim. I yielded 17 eggs each cycle..the first cycle only THREE were exceptional to transfer...and the second cycle only TWO made it.....

I am also new to IVF and will be doing my first cycle at the beginning of November. I still have tons of questions myself so I won't be of much help. My RE is starting me at 225 of Follistim and I really don't know the reason behind it. I did a bunch (6) IUIs and I only took Femera so this will be my first time of taking Follistim.
I would ask your RE what is the reasoning behind it. Is there another RE in your clinic that you can ask for a 2nd opinion? I am finding that each doctor does things differently (from the posts that I've read) and it doesn't necessarily mean it is bad. I am NO doctor but I find it interesting that you only had one mature follicle at the dose of 125 and they want to start you out at 150. You might want to do some research yourself so you can ask him pointed questions. When I went on Femara for my IUIs, my DH literally had 2 typed pages of questions for the doctor and wanted answers to each one before I started the meds. He hasn't done that yet for my IVF meds but I'm sure he will.
What others meds will you be on? Was that in your packet?
Not sure how this changes in someone older, but that has been my experience.
I thought I should add my FSH (done in Aug.) was 9.61 and my Estradiol was 70.
