Well, I had my first appointment with the doctor today and man, is he a super nice guy! I've heard great things about him, but he just blew me away with how nice, gentle and compassionate he was. I got my first ultrasound today as well. It was so cool!!! I've had ultrasounds before to look at ovarian cysts, but seeing that little life in there, in your own womb is the coolest thing I've ever seen. The heartbeat was 152 bpm, and I got to hear it loud and clear. The little bugger is an active little thing too! He held the wand still on my belly for a minute and I could just see the little arms and legs flailing away. I measured 13w5d, right on target with what they thought I was at, so I get to keep my Oct 5th due date.
My insurance only covers one ultrasound for the entire pregnancy, so I was very concerned that today's would be the only one I'd get. The nurse assured me today's was a freebie and he likes to do ultrasounds becasue he loves to see the babies in there. He has a big screen mounted on the wall in front of the bed so everything's easy to see. I talked to my friend who is 32 weeks now and she's already had 3 ultrasounds, only one charged to her insurance and she says he's assured her he'll do more at no cost, just to get a peek. All in all, I am so glad I chose this doctor, I didn't have an OBGYN in town, my last one is 2 hours away.
If I can get my scanner to work, I'll post pictures. It's being a butt and I can't get anything to scan or print. Oh yeah! When he first put the wand on me he said "Oh my gosh, there's one.....and there's two! Do twins run in your family?" And of course he moved the wand aroudn so there were two different views. I thought he was serious for a minute!! Then he said April Fool's, there's just one. At least the guy's got a sense of humor too.
