When did you tell?

After ttcing for so long and finally getting pregnant I am torn between wanting to tell the family and friends to celebrate (and I am getting sick of trying to find something to wear that doesn't show my growing potbelly :P ) and being afraid of jumping the gun in case something goes wrong. We are just around eight weeks now and there is no reason to be worried - I still have symptoms and my bump is growing. Dh wants to tell people soon and I sort of do too, but part of me needs to hear that heartbeat for confirmation before I get people excited. On the flip side if something terrible does happen in the next three weeks I would probably tell my mom and my best friend for support anyway, so do I need to wait? I am so torn and would love an opinion on this! My other online friends are split between enjoying the experience without the taint of worry behind it (worrying about miscarriage is a bad way to start a pregnancy) and erring on the side of caution.

This is such a difficult decision. I have told too early one time and have waited others. On the one hand I loved all the support I received, but on the other I liked keeping it between DH and I for a bit. Here's to making the best decision for you!

Well due to necessity we told our parent and DH's grandma because I am restricted from doing chores and grandma had to watch the kids for us when we went to the ER. They are very understanding but it is also awkward to get the "how is it going" look where they don't want to ask the worst but are curious about my situation - sigh- not the happy joyful way I wanted to announce our pregnancy :(

I am so sorry you were robbed of the joyful announcement! Keep focusing on the great announcements to come! {Will you be finding out the gender?}
