My terrific two are 9, they clean their rooms, make their beds, dust, shred mail, empty trashcans, take their dogs out and feed their pets as well as sweep, mop and sometimes yard work. Of course not everyday this all gets done, but I try to give them a chore or two a day besides taking care of their rooms and pets.

My oldest two are 6 and four and their every day jobs are make their bed (to the best of the four year olds ability) and tidy up the clothes off the floor. At the end of the day they put away their toys and clothes in the basket. They also must feed their dogs and my six year old helps with some light chores in the barn too. In between they are my "runners" as we have a bi-level home so they take recycling downstairs, bring something up from the basement pantry, etc. I like to get them to help out at least a couple of times a day just to make the point that the household is a cooperative machine and we all do our parts, however small.

I agree with you, Lisa. We are a family and everyone should help out. I like the idea of getting them to be the runners. It lets them contribute and lets them work off some energy. ;)
