Does this sound like a milk allergy?

Maddie has been having very loose stools the last week or so. She didn't tell me this was happening at first (she is embarrassed!) but I noticed her going to the bathroom several times a day and finally discovered what was up. I thought she was coming down with something at first, but it's just these loose stools. She has been having lots of milk so we cut down to one cup a day but it's still happening a little. So now I think I will say no milk for one week and see what happens. She did have trouble with milk formula when she was a baby but it went away and we never gave it another thought. Can this just reappear??? I guess if it's not better by next week I will take her to the doctor. She's just so embarrassed about it that it's really hard to find out exactly what's going on!

Thanks

Beth

It may not be an allergy as much as an intolerance - but yeah, I'd talk to the dr and maybe cut back and see what happens!!

Good luck Beth!

My husband is Lactose intolerant and he said that when he eats/drinks dairy that he has "intestinal issues". He has never gone into detail (thank goodness!) but I'm pretty sure that's what happens to him. He cut dairy out and got better. He's able to eat dairy now with the help of Lactaid tablets. Maybe ask the doc about those. I'm guessing they are safe for kids since they are just an enzyme that helps you digest milk proteins.

Good luck! I know that possible allergies can be a pain to deal with. DD#1 is peanut allergic and it was hard to get used to, but now I there are days where I don't even give it a second thought because we have our routines down. etc.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Jen
