Ok ladies....

My DD is 6 going on 7 in Sept. Obviously she is potty trained, but at night she still needs a pull up because she hasn't gotten the hang of waking up to pee. She has such trouble sleeping to start with i can't even fathom waking her to pee and trying to get her back to sleep. That is a circus to begin with.

Does anyone else go through this? I was told by a

We are in the same exact boat sister! Maddie has been potty trained since she was 2 1/2, but never at night. She is the soundest sleeper ever and will not wake up to pee. Even if she did wake up she is so scared of monsters that she won't go to the bathroom by herself. I have her in Goodnites, which are the only ones I have discovered don't leak. She is also going on 7 by the way. She wakes up positively soaked and the problem is she doesn't really care! I think it would be easier to get her out of this if she actually cared about waking up wet, but she could care less! I talked to the doctor about it and they told me it wasn't unusual really and that there are kids who do this until they are 12 or older! I don't know what to do about it actually and I worry about what happens if someone wants her to spend the night, I don't want her to get embarrassed or anything.

I have tried waking up in the night and making her go to the bathroom but she literally is half asleep when we do it and she doesn't even remember the experience in the morning. My mom said to just take the pullups off her and make her sleep in a wet bed but I think that's disgusting and awful.

Anyway, just wanted you to know you are not alone and if you hear of anything that might work let me know and I will let you know too!

Big hugs (and you can let your little one know that Maddie is going through the same thing she is and they are the same age!)

Beth

Hi Jillian,

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to give you and your dd {{{{{Hugs}}}}} I have heard, like Beth said, that it isn't unusual for it to take a while to have the control of the bladder to prevent night wetting!

I don't think I have anything really useful except that our DD went through an interesting nighttime phase.
