I think Bella is sick

I'm not sure what's up but she's been having some blood in her poops, DH noticed it first when he changed her litter box a week or so ago. I just thought it was a one off thing and ignored it. But then today I got home from getting groceries and there was a really smelly poop in her box and some blood on the floor in front of the box! I didn't see any blood in that poop, but some of her poops have been really black which I know is an indication of blood. They stink really super bad too. I need to call the vet and see what they want me to do, I hope it's nothing serious, she's had all her shots so I can't imagine what this could be. We need to change her food I think, she gets Purina One which is kind of cheap and maybe she should be having something better.

She doesn't look well either, sort of worn out looking. I'm really kind of worried, just hoping it's nothing!!!!!

Beth

Thanks, I talked to to the vet yesterday. He was not in the office yesterday but I talked to the vet tech. She said to try changing her food first, so we are switching her to Iams, we'll try her on that for a week or so and see if it gets better. Then if it doesn't get better she wants me to bring in a stool sample so they can check it for parasites. If that comes back negative I will need to bring her in for an exam. Hopefully the food will take care of it because we sure can't afford a vet bill right now! We kept her in the house last night (she likes to go out in the garage) and plan to keep her in for a while. She did seem better last night, ate a little and was playing. This morning she ate some more and is acting real playful, so that's a good sign!

I'll let you know how she does on her new food!

Beth

I forgot to update on this! Bella is doing much better, she really likes the Iams and hasn't had any more bloody poos. In fact, she seems to be pooping a lot less, which is nice, LOL! She still gets the sneezes a lot, it's like she's never been able to shake the cold that she came to us with. But she is a very happy little kitty, I just bought a cat themed scrapbook for her (and a dog one for Lexi) so I need to get all the pics printed out so I can get to work on that.

I am so glad that Bella is doing better and likes her new food. I have heard that you can give your pets regular Robitussin to help with a cold or kennel cough. I had to give one of my dogs some Robitussin for kennel cough and it worked! Those scrapbooks sounds awesome! Have fun making them!
