I hear ya!!!! Maddie is the exact same way and I am seriously dreading puberty if this is what it's like at 6 years old. She pouts, she screams, she talks back, recently she has started hitting me, which is NOT cool! I feel like her and I are constantly at loggerheads and I don't like it. I do worry about how she and I will relate as we grow older because we are soooooooo much alike it's scary! I know what I was like as a teenager, I remember my mom being in my face, threatening, screaming, always mad with me and I DO NOT want to be like that. At the same time I want her to obey me, to listen to me, to respect me and hopefully like me a little! So I am really trying to quelch my natural instinct to fight with her (I'm a bit of a hot head at times I'm afraid!) and to make her understand that while I will listen to her complaints and try to help her through stuff, that when push comes to shove, I am the MOM I am the ADULT and she needs to obey me. And I know the time to start this is now, not when she's already 13 and out of control.

Big hugs to you Angie, and the rest of us! It's going to get tougher as they grow older, I guess all we can do is take big deep breaths, count to ten and try to stay calm so maybe they will stay calm too.

Hugs!

Beth
