Hello. I'm new here

Hi, I'm new to this board. I don't know if I'm in the right place. I have two kids (ages 6 and almost 5). I have been trying to conceive since my younger child was 1 1/2. I have tried Clomid a few times but it hasn't worked. My periods go 37, 40, sometimes 45 days. Five months ago my docter put me on Metformin. He said I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which affects ovulation. My periods have gotten more regular since going on the medication. The only problem is being on the medication makes charting ferility signs a nightmare. I never get "fertile" mucus and even the ovulation predictor doesn't work. I get a line, then my period comes 12 days later. Isn't it supposed to be 14? This month I added Clomid again. I have never taken the Clomid and Metformin together. I know it didn't work. I can feel it. Since I already have 2 children, I don't know if I would get involved with IVF. I am really worried because I am only 33 and my doctor said I'm "peri-menopausal". I try not to let it rule my life, but I really want a 3rd child. I feel guilty too because I know I should just feel lucky to have two healthy kids.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Nicole and welcome

I responded to your clomid post too. You sure do belong here :) These women are great have have a wealth of knowledge. Im new here too (2 mo). I dont have much experience with metformin or pcos, sorry. I have heard that your LP (time between O and AF) anywhere between 12-16 days is considered normal, so I think that your okay there.

Maybe others will have more answers for you.
Glad you came :)

Hi and welcome - -

You are in the right place! I know what you mean about having 2 children and feeling guilty about wanting more. I feel the same way. I am so happy that I have one child, a son. But, I want another child also. I don't think we should feel guilty or greedy, because we just want our family to grow. We have so much love to give our families, we just want to share it with more children, right?

It took my dh and I 5 years to have a baby. I was on clomid days 5 - 9 on and off for 1 year. We tried iui with clomid about 12 times, and nothing happened. We were told to proceed to IVF, but we chose to continue with IUI and clomid. I also put my dh, who is a cancer survivor, on vitamins to improve sperm condition and counts. Within the next 4 months, we got pg twice with clomid (days 3 - 7 to shorten my cycle) and iui. I m/c at 6 weeks, but I got pg with my ds shortly after.

Best of luck to you this month,
Susan
