I just explained this down in Waiting for O, so if you already read that, this post will be repetitive (not feeling good enough to rewrite it all, so I just copied and pasted).

I would say what you thought was your period was just spot, af's evil cousin messing with you. Many of us spot pre-af, some up to a week. Cd 1 is your first day of full red flow & since you only had pink & brown before, that is just considered spotting. Spotting pre-af can be a sign of low progesterone which can make it hard to get pregnant or stay pregnant. It is tested with b/w on 7dpo. If you start spotting again next cycle, I'd make an appointment with your dr to discuss it, especially if spotting is not normal for you.

Good luck & I hope af eases up soon!

I HATE thick and clumpy AF! There is nothing worse. The one good thing about not being pregnant is you can have a glass of wine when AF messes with you.

Thanks! I have an appointment in the end of February for my regular annual exam so I'll raise the questions with her. I talked to the nurse at the doctor's office because I didn't know what to make of this and she said to count the first day of spotting as the first calendar day of my next cycle. I told her I was TTC, so that would be important for me to know. Well, I'll ask the doctor again regardless. I have never had mid-cycle spotting, but I have been experiencing some light spotting one or two days before the start of the normal flow for the last couple of months before this past cycle (just never five days before). That recent pattern has been unusual for me as well. I think I'll just have to rely on my opks and hope that the vitex that I'm taking to try to balance things out will help.

Thanks again! I'm hoping AF is gone tomorrow. :)

Thanks! I'm so sick of AF, even though the beginning of it was so light. It's been around too long this cycle. Go away AF!!! Ready to start waiting for O already.
