Bummed about surprise early O

Yes, it's my first cycle off the BCP, but I'm still completely surprised by what is apparently my O on CD 8. I just started temping this month too and I'm hoping maybe I'm doing something wrong and my O was several days later, because if it was really on day 8 there's just no way our timing would have worked. I'm bummed to have missed it, bummed that it's so early because now I'm confused. Is it just this month or all the time? If that's normal for me then that means my LP is typically 19 - 21 days long! When I'm not on BCP my cycles fall between 27 and 29 days. I'm trying to understand what's going on and just wait for next month to see what happens, but I'm still feeling down about it.

Thanks for the reassurance. I hope you're right and everything will straighten out quickly. Also not really looking forward to a short cycle since that means I'll probably see AF right around New Year's Eve :/

Do you have a link to your chart?

It worked :) I hope you don't feel too discouraged with your wonky chart. Just remember it takes time to get used to temping & your body is still adjusting to life post-bc, so it's normal to see fluctuations.

What's the reason for all the open circles? Are you temping at the same time? It may help to set an alarm, temp & then go back to sleep. This will help get more accurate results.

I think it's possible that you O'd yesterday on cd17. If your temp stays up for the next few days, then ff may change your O day :) Hope you & dh have been getting busy!!

Well that's encouraging! Thanks for the feedback! I guess I just thought somehow that this would be a more exact science :) But only time will tell if the stars have aligned...

Lol! Not an exact science in the least!!! Lots of things can affect your temp & then impact the way your chart is read. Mouth breathing, having a restless sleep, drinking a glass of alcohol, waking up to pee, moving too much before you temp, temping too early or temping too late!! Lots of stuff can affect the accuracy & the way your chart is interpreted.

Bd your little bums off & hope for the best! That's all we can do :)

I agree with Angela, make sure you set an alarm and do your temps at the same time. It really does make a difference and you can get a less wonky chart if it's consistent with your times. I don't think you O'd CD 8, your CM was more like what you'd expect prior to O around the later CD's. I feel like it took me a little while to get used to charting and then it got easier and I could make more sense of things.

You're all totally right... FF changed my O date to the second big temp dip, CD16. I don't think this month is very promising since I was so confused and frustrated we gave up a little too early. On the bright side, though, I feel like I have so much more info about my cycle, even if this month's data is pretty wonky. And yes, must get better about times and consistency! May need a new and better thermometer, too; any recommendations?
