From what you said I think he's only trying to make sure that this bean is sticky.

I had betas done 4 times, until my number got high enough that they knew they could see the gestational sac by transvaginal u/s. I'm high risk for ectopic so they wanted to know for sure that the bean implanted in my uterus and not in my tubes. I had betas on 13 DPO, 15 DPO, 17 DPO, and 20 DPO and then it was high enough to do the u/s. They just do them to confirm that the pregnancy is progressing, but it is stressful. I felt very anxious waiting to get my numbers back. They like for the number to double every 48 hours, but even a doubling time of 72 hours can still indicate a viable pregnancy.

Although a m/c is a terrible thing, it does not mean every pg will end that way for you- your dr is just be cautious. I hope you've got a sticky bean!

5800 is really good! Now, don't be too freaked out if your number doesn't double every 48 hours from here on out. At some point, the doubling time slows down, and I think that happens after 5 weeks. So you are looking for a higher number, but not needing it to double every 48. At 20 DPO my number was in the 2000s and they stopped testing me because it was high enough to indicate that we would be able to see a gestational sac and because the doubling number doesn't matter as much.

I think you've got a big, sticky bean in there!
