Thank you for all your good thoughts and vibes! Gavin's neck lump has indeed gone down. In about another week the ENT wants us to come back for a re-check. I'm a little worried about just leaving a cyst in his neck even if it did go down. I mean, I don't want to be constantly paranoid about checking his neck. Well, I'm glad it went down anyway.

Thanks again,

Robyn

Robyn, I am so glad Gavin is doing better. I will continue to send healthy vibes your way. Oh, and congrats on getting a coverline, too, BTW! Best of luck with everything.

Hi Robyn,

I am sorry I did not get to your other post sooner. I am going to answer it here (I was on vacation).

First of all... Great news on it shrinking!!! That is always a good sign!

I had the cyst removed from my shoulder when I was about 25 (I think). It did not hurt, really. It was not comfortable, they numbed me up really good and dug it out (sorry it is gross). They could tell right away that it was not something to worry about. What they explained to me was because it was right under the skin and was not attached to anything, they could tell it was just a cyst (actually similar to those little white bumps people get on their eyelids).

What do the doctors think it is? Did they biopsy it and where is it?

Thanks!

They haven't done any biopsy or anything. Basically the doc just looked at him and said that we'd take antibiotics and then see him again in 2 weeks.

It is located on the left side right under his chin bone. Pretty much right were the lymph node is. It started going down the day he got the antibiotics and is barely visable at this point.

i have a lymph node in my neck that swells to the size of a golf ball anytime I have a cold or throat infection. Perfectly normal, but it takes a few weeks or more after illness goes away (even with antibiotics) to shrink back down.

I was horrified the first time it happened and was convinced I had cancer. Hope your son is doing better.
