Brand New here and SO EXCITED!

My name is Dannielle and I am 30 yrs old. My fiance and I have finally made the decision to start TTC our first child, and I couldn't be more excited. I've wanted a family for as long as I can remember.

I have had irregular periods for years. I'm overweight and assume that it's a major contributing factor to my irregularity. I had gone on birth control a few years ago to regulate my periods better, but stopped October of 2009 to see if my body would adjust to a normal routine. And it didn't. I've had months without periods, months with spotting, and even months with TWO periods (lucky me). Most of the time my cycle has run between 43 and 60 days. I'm assuming that I have not been ovulating.

Then something AMAZING happened... I got my period on December 20th and then on January 16th (this year)!!!! And then I got it AGAIN on February 21st!!!! Two months with 'regular' periods. I also think i had EWCM. I bought an OPK kit, and tried to use it but only got faint negative lines. I think I may have tested too late. I'm trying to use these again this month.

In this same timeframe, my fiance agreed to start TTC. I feel like everything is coming together. Like maybe it was meant to be this way. (at least that's what I'm hoping).

I am currently using OPKs and waiting to see if i ovulate. I could really use some friendly support, advice, and opinions from everyone out there

Congrats! I too am new on here and have been TTC. My best advice would be to relax and have fun with it. My friend couldn't conceive for awhile and she told me that when she started to care for her diabetes better and become more relaxed with trying- she conceived and now she has a beautiful little boy.

@Melissa- I actually didn't know to test twice a day. Thanks! Also, I've noticed that last month when I tested AFTER I had EWCM (too late im thinking), that my test line was a lot darker than it is now. Do the test lines vary on darkness in this way?

@Anne- Great advice. I'm trying to relax but I'm so darn excited!! Haha

The lines will vary in darkness, you actually don't get a positive until the test line is as dark or darker than the control line.

Congrats on entering the world of TTC, I hope your journey is short and sweet. That is really great that your body seems to be regulating itself. Is there anything you can think of that you had done differently?

I can't see your chart, just your ticker, but what you had said about your OPKs sound like you're moving in the right direction.

Laura- I haven't started charting my BBT yet. I work night shifts 3 days a week so I'm wondering how accurate it will be?

I don't have any experience with shift work, but I have seen charts for women that do work shifts.

Hi Dannielle! It's great news that your cycles are starting to regulate! There are herbal supplements you can check into - I know there's one out there that's supposed to help regulate your cycles, but I'm not sure what it is. Red raspberry, which is available in pill or tea form, helps to tone the uterus and ready it for pg. I would also HIGHLY recommend massage - I was TTC for 13 months, and this last cycle I got 2 massages between AF and O and I got my BFP!!! Relaxing, although extremely difficult, is very important during this time. Best of luck!
