New & TTC-- and feeling clueless.

Hi all! I'm new to this board... haven't been here since before I had my first child. I'm 31, and I have one child, a six year old. I had decided I didn't want any more children and then recently we changed our minds. So I'm TTC now, this is my first full cycle at it. I'm having a few difficulties though and it's stressing me out. I can't figure out how long my cycle actually is, for one thing... every month my period comes on the same date like clockwork... but the problem with that is if you start counting actual days for the cycle, the same date falls on different cycle days each month since they don't all have the same amount of days. Then last month when we actually were getting ready to start TTC, I was a few days late, so that confused me even more. If I calculate with that then for that month my cycle was unusually longer. So, I can't calculate how long my cycle actually is, it seems to be different each time. Only by a few days. Is that normal?

It's totally normal to feel clueless...maybe because there is no exact science to this, there's a lot of theories and not too much substance, even for the doctors who specialize in this!

I was totally clueless when I started using this board too, when TTC my first child. I learned A LOT from reading other people's posts. I hope that you get the information you need, and of course, lots of support as you TTC!!!

Thanks! This month I didn't use any OPK, I was mostly trying to figure everything out and kind of get started on what to do with trying. Next month I'll probably do that, especially since it's so confusing. My main thing I think is to try not to stress. I tend to do that too much. Thanks for the tip on picking the shortest cycle. :)

I understand where you are coming from. My cycles vary from 29-34 days, I usually get AF on the 26th of every month. I don't use OPK's and I don't check CP but I do notice a difference in CM. I bought a diary especially for TTC and monitoring my cycles. Over the past 6 months of TTC I've noticed a pattern, I now know that I Ovulate around CD14-17. CD15 is uaually the first day I see EWCM, CD 16 I get more EWCM, CD 17 I get cramps for an hour or so. CD 18 nothing, all gone!

I did buy OPK's for this month but I guess I bought the wrong ones... I bought the Clearblue sticks that go with the monitor, I don't even have the monitor! I still used them and tonight I actually got 2 very dark lines! Guess I'm still in my fertile window!

I wish you all the best!!

Your cycle actually sounds like mine, at least the best I can estimate it this month. I think about day 16 is when I had the best ewcm. It went away the next day pretty much. Then the next day my abdomen was really, really sore. I have a cough and every time I would cough it would hurt to the point of saying ouch out loud. This is unusual for me since I work out about every day and I never get sore. A day or two later I actually started getting little cramps and some pains... also unusual. I don't get this for ovulation ever and I never get cramps before AF gets here and starts. AF isn't even expected for at least a week, maybe longer, since last month's was late. But it's possible I miscalculated ovulation... because I had these pains and soreness for days, it's just now stopping. And... I started to get sore breasts and by today they hurt so badly that even just sitting still I can feel it and it hurts. Very unusual for me, I get a little soreness when it's time for AF usually and that's it. Either I miscalculated ovulation and something is already in the works, or my body has decided to randomly change completely this month.
