My name is Melissa, and DH and I have been trying for almost a year to have our third. I've been on the Secondary Infertility board for a couple of months but I always lurk over here so I thought I better just jump in. I've been on Clomid for the past 5 months [with no success]. I decided to go med-free this month but now I'm wondering if I'm even going to O at all.

Welcome to the board Melissa!! I haven't been on any of the other TTC boards, but I know this one is SO much FUN!! And if that's not enough, these are the most amazing group of women! They'll be like your TTC best friends after a day! ;)

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't had any success yet but keep your chin up, when you least expect it, you can get a wonderful suprise! :) Good Luck and can't wait to hear more from you!

Hey Melissa, welcome to the board! I'm Sydney, been trying for our fourth for awhile...I'm ovulating late (like CD 23) and then having short luteal phases (8 days, 5 days, etc), so I"m headed to the obgyn next week....nervous about having to do Clomid or something. I'm sorry you haven't had success yet, but like Tammy said, keep your chin up, it WILL happen!

You will love it here. Granted we all want our stay to be short and sweet, but it really is the best board. The ladies here know so much and are freaking hilarious!

Welcome Melissa! I do hope that your stay here is short and sweet.

I didn't have success with Clomid at all either. I hope you find the right combination for you BFP soon. I'm on Femera this month and I already had a + OPK on CD 12, usually I don't O until CD 16-18. Just thought I'd put it out there if you wanted to look into it.

Hey - I actually talked my OB into giving me Femara. They said they don't usually prescribe that - the NP wasn't even sure what days of my cycle I was supposed to take it! They also said they would only give me 1 month supply and after that I should go to an RE. Soooo what days of your cycle do you take it?

I was on a super high dose, 10mg, I haven't heard of anyone on a higher dose for fertility. I took it the same as Clomid, CD 03 - 07. What dosage of Clomid were you on? I gather most women start at 2.5 mg of Femera. It was awesome compared to Clomid! You really are lucky your OB even knew about it. I gather that it is not very well known for usage for ovulation out side of the IF community. The drug is only listed for use in post menopausal breast cancer patients. It is VERY important that you don't take it if you are PG. It can cause birth defects. If you want to start ASAP I would do a blood test and then take the BCP for a week to bring on AF. Femera has a short half life and should be out of your system by the time that implantation would occur, so don't let what I said above scare you away from it.

If you don't mind, what about Clomid didn't work for you? Were your cycles monitored?

I was on Clomid 50 mg for one month and got prego with my 2nd. They put me on it after doing FSH and it was borderline. So with this one I told the doc that I wasn't ovluating [i could tell by my temps] and he upped the dosage to 100mg after being on 50mg for 3 months. I did the 100mg for 2 months and I'm pretty sure I was ovluating but I had zero CM. I've read that some RE's won't even do Clomid unless you're doing an IUI. So for me the Clomid worked but didn't work. I decided to take a break from any meds this month to see if I ovluated on my own and to hopefully improve the whole CM thing. I wasn't monitored at all while on Clomid- I got it through my regular OB. I actually have another prescription of Clomid left. They did give me 2.5 mg of Femara but I'm waiting to see if the hag shows first. I still don't have a positive OPK yet and I'm CD 23 but I'm still hopeful. It soundslike you've been trhough a lot fx that the femara works and you catch your eggie!
