Hi,

I've had two hysteroscopy's but mine may have been different than what you are doing. Mine were under general anesthesia and one was to try and remove retained placenta after a m/c and the other was to remove scar tissue. I *think* yours will be in office and will be to investigate the condition of your uterus?

Both of my procedures were covered 100% by insurance and I would think yours would be because it is under testing. Of course everyone's insurance is different. Ask your RE to check with insurance co first.

During my procedures they kind of knew what they were looking for so nothing out of the ordinary was found. Is your RE looking for scarring or uterine abnormalities? It is odd that he doesn't also want to do an HSG to check if your tubes are open.

Good luck!

Well, I just got a letter in the mail stating my insurance will not cover the hysteroscopy.

I would fight it but I would also speak with your OB about getting hooked up with a reproductive surgeon and having the full thing done. A laparoscopy is typically what is done for endo, a hysteroscopy is for the interior of the uterus only. He could put in for a diagnostic code about a suspected mullerian anomoly which would warrant the lap and the hyst. This would be under general anesthia but you may have a bettershot at getting it done this way. I would also seriously consider seeing a reproductive endocrinologist since you have been trying for so long without success. Good luck to you.
