That is really odd. I once took an OPK when I thought I was in my next cycle and was really surprised it was positive because it was still really early (like CD6)...it turned out I was actually pregnant so that's why it showed up.
Did you read through the instruction book to see what may give a false positive?
I know its SO odd!! I have looked for why I could have a false positive online and most of what I have seen says that PCOS could muck up the tests but I don't have that. Maybe I ovulated twice? I know the first time I tested it was a pretty dark positive and the biggest clue was that my cervix was very soft and very open. In fact it was the most open I have ever felt it! Then the 2nd time (4 days later)the positive line was a bit darker then the control line but my cervix was closed and hard. It's really got me very confused! I have my bases covered for both times but if I O'd the 2nd time then I don't see how I could have gotten pregnant since my cervix was closed and hard. My body is sending me some major mixed signals. I'm going to push my doctor about getting my hormones checked, I don't want to wait another 6 months when they can do a simple blood test now and figure out if there is something wrong.
Thanks for replying! I'm really confused about this but only time will tell if something happened!
You can surge more than once in a cycle. Just because LH surges doesn't mean that an egg has actually been released. Sometimes it has to do it again to get the egg out.
Well I heard about the OPK being positive while pregnant for some women.
The line has to be dark to be positive, they sometimes have light positives and it's not actually positive unless it's dark, at least for some tests... I'm not too experienced with OPK but I did read that a faint positive is not a positive. It has to be as dark as the control line for it to count.
You cannot ovulate twice in one cycle, but your body can gear up to ovulate then for some reason not and gear up again another time. Once you ovulate the hormones change and you cannot ovulate again till after you have a period.
Thank you so much for your advice! I am still a bit confused as to what is going on with my body. The first positive on the OPK was darker but not as dark as the 2nd one BUT with the 1st LH surge my cervix was in the SHOW position and I had the fertile CM; the 2nd LH surge I had very little CM and my cervix was hard closed and lower.
I'm trying to stay positive b/c whatever day I did ovulate on we Bd'd every other day around it. I just can't see how I would get pregnant with the 2nd LH surge (which WAS way darker then the control line) when my cervix wasn't open or soft and my CM was very very little. Maybe I just didn't get my cervix at the right time (I check it every day at 4). I hope I did catch it though!!
I appreciate all your advice! At least some of my questions have been answered!!
Well, the ideal think is to get the "boys" up to the egg as it's being released so if you BDed before the 2nd surge and an egg was actually released the second time, I'd say there's a pretty good chance.
I hope there is a good chance! We BD'd like crazy around both times (DH has great "boys") so it won't be for a lack of trying!! My DR told me that we hadn't been trying hard enough ( which both of us really thought we were) and since my cycles can range from 23days to 43 days we have to start BD'ing every other day from CD 12to CD 26 and by CD 14-16 we need to try to BD every day ti;ll
I guess I will just have to be patient and if I don't get AF by Oct 27th or Oct 28th and I I will be testing. I hope it doesn't come then! Besides really wanting to be pregnant, it's our 2 year wedding anniversary and we are going to St.Pete. Sexy vacation time will turn into grumpy crampy April time if I do get AF!
