$50 and up for Pre-seed on eBay?

Does anyone see anything wrong with this? Other women preying on women who are desperately TTC and are prescribed Pre-Seed, which is currently unavailable from the manufacturer, i really just cant believe it. After going thru what i have TTC, if i had an opened box, the only reason i would sell it is to try to help someone else, not to try to line my pockets from the highest bidder or the most desperate woman who may need it the most...whats next kidneys?

Any thoughts out there?.... i mean its one thing to sell furniture to the highest bidder...but to sell something that may be medically necessary for someone TTC? I think its disgusting.

Hi There,

I'm Marcy, and I agree with you. I think it's awful. What people will do for money! They obviously have never "been there" to understand. Well, to be honest, I'm also a little ticked at the manufaturer. Why don't they plan or forcast there sales a bit better. I don't buy that the message boards for ttc out there are the only reason that the stuff sells(Someone mentioned that because it is such a hot recommendation on message boards, that is why they recently went into back order). They must have known there was a demand for their product, unless it's a "mom and pop" business outta someones garage who doesn't understand marketing and a business forcast plan. To not be taking ANY orders is frustrating and dissapointing at the least. Anyways, I right there with ya! Good luck. Marcy

Thanks for your support...i was just talking to my DH about it and he also thinks it pretty tacky....so we emailed a complaint to eBay about the listings and we also emailed the manufacturer...dont know if they would like someone else selling their product for high profits that is not a contracted retailer....

I agree with you in that i dont know about some of these companies that are selling fertility products....

dont know if it will do any good, but i must say i feel a little better:)

Thanks again and baby dust to you!

No offense, but I don't see it as being any different from someone who is selling a house, car, or a pair of shoes. It's simple supply and demand.

i guess i do think that maybe your comment is a little insensitive and frankly quite hurtful. you might see it that way from where your standing with 3 kids, but maybe if you were unable to conceive and this was recommended by your doc and your facing expensive infertility treatments you might see it a little differently, and maybe a little tired of being financially drained for just trying to have a baby. i dont think anything that is considered a possible medical treatment as something to be auctioned only to the highest bidder...might as well start selling kidneys on the internet.

of course its a free country and people have the right to pay as much as they want for something....i just think it is pretty sad.

Here! Here! Racheal

I totally agree with your last post! Way to Go Girl!! Yes , as stated, they have the right to sell that stuff to the highest bidder. But ethically, I view that product a little differently than a couch or a car. But, they still can do whatever they want with it. I would be interested in knowing the reaction of the manufacturer on this issue.

But, those are just my views. I would never do it. If I had some....I would just give it away, because I may be helping someone get the greatest gift in the world. That feels so rewarding just to think about it. It takes many different types of people to make up the world. Take care and hang in there! Marcy

I agree that is sucks that people do that. But I hate paying almost $2 for less than a gallon of gas. But we need it. I hate paying $1.00 for a soda pop that costs less than a .05... But I want it. I hate paying outrageous health and car and house insurance. But we need it. Unfortunately people will pay it or they wouldn't sell Pre seed for $50 or more. It sounds a lot cheaper than other infertility methods. No one is going to win the debate here. Venting is good though. IT SUCKS AND THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT. What is the problem with the manufacturer? Why do you have to buy it through Ebay? I would be more mad at the manufacturer then the ebay seller. Supply and Demand is the American way. Thank God we are Americans and we can charge $50 for Pre Seed. I am sure we spend much more for OPK;s and HTP's. It is just spread out over months instead of one time. There has to be another choice then Pre-seed. No other company sells sperm friendly lubricant? I think I should try to invent something and become rich. I would sell it cheap though. I think keeping the lines open with each other about other options is the best thing. Keep posting about finding Pre Seed and I am sure someone will come up with a great plan.

I totally agree with you!!! I notice one of the Ebay sellers was selling a box that was opened and one applicator missing (because she had used that one). She had hers set for buy it now at $75. That's absolutely ridiculous! People will do anything to make a buck.

Supply & demand, baby, it's the American way. I don't see anything wrong with it, but I, personally, wouldn't prey on people like that. Apparently, I was one of the lucky ones that got my order last week, after buying it from drugstore.com. I must have gotten their last box. Sorry gals! I didn't get a chance to use any Pre~Seed this cycle cause I got it too late, and I'm currently in the one week wait now (and things look REAL good!), so IF I get that BFP next week, I would be glad to give my Pre~Seed to someone who needs it... I'll keep you posted on the progress!

Now that the kiddos have calmed down....sibling rivalry fight I had to referee, I can contiue with my post. I wanted to say that after I got the Out of stock notice from Drugstore .com and the manufacturer, I went online and found some "sperm friendly " lubricant and bought it. The name of it is

"Replens Vaginal Moisturizer" from thefertilityshop.com Now, I will preface this by saying, I have not used this product(hasn't arrived yet..probably today), nor have I had it recommneded to me. I searched it out onmy own, on the net. I read about it and it seems safe. It is $12.95 for 8 applicators. It is a vaginal lubricant that says it is sperm friendly. Check it out and see if it's for you. Good Luck, Marcy

I was NOT trying to be insensitive. Yes, I have 3 children, but like all of you, I am TTC. Supply and demand is capitalism at it's finest. Do I like paying over $2 for gas? Do I like that we had to pay 4x more than the average American for our home? No. It's just how things are. If someone has it and I want it, I'll just have to pay. Preseed is not medically necessary. If it were, it or something similar would be available by prescription. It's sad that people prey on those who are desperate to hold babies in their arms. I feel for all of you who have been trying so hard. I can't imagine the financial and emotional drain it must be. I resent the implication that I am insensitive, however, and I stand by my position. Preseed is no different than any other product bought and sold on ebay. To us, it's seems horrible to inflate the price, but someone else might be equally outraged about the high prices of Elvis plates.

Good luck to you all. Not a month goes by that I don't pray you all get BFP's.

Jackie
