Hi. Does anyone know what a corpus lectum cyst (sorry about sp) would have to do w/ getting pregnant? Is it a bad egg or what?I remember before I was pregnant w/my son I had an US because of bad O type pain, but it lasted longer and thats what they said I had. I did get pregnant a few months later. I'm just wondering because I had bad O pain this month and though it could be another cyst. Will it prevent me from getting pregnant?

Hope this post made sense.

Hi Shayn! A corpus luetum cyst is to do with the actual process of ovulation. If I'm not mistaken, this is the sac that the egg develops and releases from at ovulation. The sac sticks around- now called a corpus luteum and is responsible for the release of progesterone post "o". This helps sustain pg in the early stages by releasing the progesterone. I may have some of the details off, but I can assure you that a corpus luteum is NOT a bad thing- we all want them. ;o)

HTH!

I think if you had a cyst on the corpus luteum, that might prevent pregnany that cycle only, because it may interfere with the release of progesterone that would sustain a pregnancy if the egg was fertilized and implanted. If the corpus luteum were unable to produce enough progesterone, the implantation probably wouldn't stick. but the doctor might be able to give you progesterone to help suppport the corpus luteum. SO you might talk to the doctor about whether you need progesterone supplements.
