Ok, I need to go in for my yearly gyn appt, pap smear and all. But by time I can get an appt, it will be possible that I may be pregnant (sometime within that 2ww). Does anyone know if getting a pap smear after conception can cause a miscarriage? Thanks!

I don't have the answer, but I was going to post the same question! I'll be getting my exam on 10/14 which will be cd26.. about 12dpo or so (guessing). Maybe they'll be able to do a test or something by then.. I'm hoping :)

So glad to see someone else had the same question. I was worried it might sound silly to worry about!

They usually do a pap as part of your first prenatal appointment, so don't worry about that being a problem.

Thanks so much Cassie! Guess I will call back and make that appt. I hung up while I was on hold because I wasn't sure all of a sudden! *blush* Hope they don't recognize my voice!

Hi Janie,

At my gyno's office, they take a urine sample before the exam. I would tell them that you could be pregnant and let them know you are trying, so that they will not do anything to harm the possible pregnancy.

Good luck!!

Hi Janie,

I just had my annual a few weeks ago and my doctor knew that I was 10 DPO and he even joked while doing the pap that I might already be pg (I wasn't), so I doubt that it is a threat to a potential pg.

HTH!

:)
